Chose this unassuming little pub on the first night of our short break simply due to its proximity to our accommodation. Lovely cosy atmosphere and friendly staff but the food was something else. So often places say they do homemade food but this genuinely was. I had the best fish pie I think I’ve ever had in a pub and I’ve eaten a lot of fish pies! In fact it was so good we went back there our second night too and had another equally tasty meal. If you like tasty wholesome grub, this is the place to go if you’re in Brightlingsea.
The food and service at this restaurant were excellent, and I would highly recommend it! When we were paying, we asked one of the servers if the man behind the bar was the bar manager. He was juggling multiple tasks and appeared to have everything under control, including the other staff members. He did an exceptional job! We were informed that he wasn't the manager, but we hope he receives the recognition he deserves. We will definitely be returning.
This pub was recommended to us. We went for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. We were staying in the area and had a dog with us but this wasn’t a problem as there is a separate area for those guests with a dog. Our roast dinner was lovely with the beef cooked perfectly. The service was also excellent from the two servers in the restaurant and the barman. Sunday lunch is very popular here so best to book.
Great pub in Brightlingsea. Staff were really welcoming. I can personally recommend the veggie burger. It was the tastiest, greenest burger! Delicious. Perfect pub, easy to book but on a sunny Sunday we were still able to get a table outside. Great kid menu and reasonably priced. Large menu of adults, great seafood and roasts. Staff efficient and friendly. Great selection of drinks. Would recommend and return. Thank you
Lovely, friendly atmosphere which serves delicious home cooked food. We arrived 5 minutes before the kitchen was about to close and we still managed to have a main and a dessert. We would be happy to recommend to friends and family
We booked a table for twelve people after a ramble. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. We all enjoyed our meals which were ordered individually and hot and tasty. Deserts were also delicious. Definitely would recommend.
