It seems that as the years go by, more and more old school Vietnamese restaurants close, even in the Vietnamese enclaves in San Jose. This is one of those long-standing traditional Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose, and while I'm not an old fogey, I can appreciate Vietnamese food beyond the Phở Vietnamese noodle bowls, and this is one of those places to enjoy traditional dishes. My go-to place for Viet food, specifically Chả cá thăng long! The employees are very accommodating to large parties. Highly recommend if you're visiting the bay, live in the bay, or just Vietnamese! Cash only. And you gotta work for your good here. They give you the ingredients but you gotta roll that baby up yourself. Very traditional with the fermented shrimp/ fish sauce. But the fried fish and dill combo inside fresh lettuce and rice paper is quite a treat
Come here for the baked catfish spring rolls. That's the only thing I've had here and I will continue to come back solely for that dish. It's probably the best one I've had outside of Orange County. Their cafe sua da and soda chanh are also legit tasty.
Had rice wrap fried fish. Tasted great, no complaints. As a warning, is CASH ONLY. They do have an in store ATM if you forget cash.
