I tend to check only really good or really bad experiences, and that was certainly the former. we tried this pub for the first time since the takeover. what can I say, apart from fantastic." we all found employees to be nice, friendly and welcoming. they were attentive without being intrusive while we were fed. the food was cooked and presented. the menu was imaginative and much of it locally sourced. we had a generous bowl to start with mixed olives and our main course that were steaks were the best we ever tasted boiled to perfection. the dessert that we chose, which was pavlowa, was presented beautifully. we'll be back next week!
Close to caravan site where we were staying, had a bit of a fancy for a local beer, not had one for years...Visited early evening had a pint or so of Swordfish, would recommend, checked out what food was available. And visited the following evening for meal and a pint. The burgers were fantastic, very good portions. Fairly priced. Staff very friendly and hospitable, up for some leg pulling. Enjoyed our evening and will definitely revisit next time we are down that way.
Visited a couple of times whilst staying nearby. They have the friendliest of staff, super efficient and welcoming despite it being very busy. (Would say booking is essential, especially at the weekend. Enjoyed a delicious meal a good choice including a specials board. Not just your average ‘pub grub’ freshly prepared and beautifully presented. So lovely to sit and enjoy a 6X in a Wiltshire pub once more! Thank you!
we had stopped at the local camping site and decided to look for a pub to foot. my wife has allergy problems and we were not sure that we find everywhere that took care of it. the fantastic friendly staff soon put our thoughts in rest, so we booked our dinner for two plus the dog. both had nice meal times and the staff could no longer come before. massive thumb of us and will return.

Staff handled our large party of adults and children with enthusiasm. Even though the place was packed, food arrived in good time and was very good. A good traditional pub. The only criticism is that it could do with a little bit of smartening up as the decor is a bit tired.
Really enjoyed our meal- two nights in a row as we were staying nearby. Good service and welcoming. Excellent food selection for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Thank you we loved the food and will be back- only sorry we could not have a roast on Sunday x
Walked up from the canal for a quick lunch. Excellent friendly service, great local beers, and lovely chunky sandwiches. Just what we needed after a hard morning working through the locks.

We visit regularly on Sundays for their Roast Beef and Butchers board. Always consistently fab food, service and price. Friendly staff and nice setting.
