Me, my husband and our two boys came here to eat dinner. It was his first time and my second time. The front staff can be a little rude when asking for a specific table. It wasn't busy so not sure what the problem was. Our server was nice but was horrible to say the least. I couldn’t tell if she was new or not, she seemed like it but regardless she was not good at all. She didn’t know any of the beers, liquors or could recommend anything. One difference I've noticed about po'boys outside of Southeast Louisiana is that they're often served on hoagie rolls instead of traditional French bread. These rolls tend to be softer and less durable. However, Tia Juanitas surprised me by toasting the hoagie roll, giving it the crunchiness of French bread and preventing it from falling apart! I ordered the oyster po'boy, which came with tartar sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes, along with a side of fries. The waitstaff is friendly, and the service at the table is quick. However, the tables are sticky, and the laminated menus feel as grimy as restroom door handles. My wife and I found it to be a great spot for people watching, especially as we listened to the loud stories of drunk divorced women enjoying a night out—it was quite entertaining! We genuinely had a good time. The food, on the other hand, was excessively salty, likely to encourage more drink purchases. That said, the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail and hushpuppies were standout dishes. While we didn't leave unhappy, we probably won’t return due to the food and cleanliness issues.
I was really let down because I mentioned to our waitress that it was his birthday, and she promised to bring him cheesecake, which I thought was a lovely gesture. When the cheesecake arrived, it was just okay. Afterward, while I was in the restroom, the bill came, and my husband took care of it. When we got home and I checked the bill, I noticed we were charged for the cheesecake! The waitress had said it would be complimentary. I didn't order it! We’ve returned to this restaurant several times, and it continues to impress just as it did on our previous visits. This was my second time dining here, and I was very satisfied with the service. The food was excellent in taste, temperature, and presentation. I would definitely recommend this place. I ordered the beef fajitas, cooked medium, both times I visited, and my husband had the blackened tilapia on this occasion, which was also delicious. I'm excited to come back and try more dishes!
We do Tias almost monthly and have never been disappointed, the food and service is always exceptionally good. Today was probably just a one off, the server was attentive, the chips queso and salsa as good as ever, but they lost our order in the kitchen and after patiently waiting and asking for 45 mins it was finally determined they would then start the order, politely declined, paid for the appetizers and left. Very disappointing experience from a great place!
I was in town visiting family, and my sister-in-law recommended this restaurant, particularly for the fish dish I chose. I sat at the bar and had a fantastic time. The service was friendly and genuine. They have a unique draft system that fills the pint from the bottom up. Just a tip—don’t press the seal on the bottom; ask my brother about that, haha! With live music, delicious food, and wonderful staff, this place is truly a gem.
My husband is a big fan of the ribeye fajitas they serve here! My mom and daughter love the bread bowl. Even though it's not on the menu, be sure to ask for the shrimp and crab bread bowl during your next visit! I also really enjoy the Cajun queso; it's got a nice kick to it! Another 1st for us mainly because I don’t eat seafood but they have a variety of options. I got crispy tacos and fried ribs hubby got fried fish poboy with chicken and sausage gumbo. The top shelf margarita with Don Julio was great as well.
