Soooo amazing from start to finish. The food and wine pairings were phenomenal. Every meal besides the last cut of meat wasn't the best, and the only reason I wouldn't have given that dish 5-stars was because the cut had a little chewy tendon in it. No fault to the chef. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Again, the food was PHENOMENAL. Hats off to the Chef and team. The service was exquisite. Well looked after and very knowledgeable in food and especially wine. Being a seat for one at the bar, I would've like to converse with the staff/bartender a little more, but that's ok. Decor was beautiful. This was my third visit to Toqué, and I have to say I was quite disappointed. I've stopped recommending the restaurant to my friends and acquaintances. I returned to celebrate a milestone about two weeks ago during lunch, but the menu didn't impress either me or my companion at all. I also noticed that our finished plates sat on the table for a long time without being cleared. Additionally, the waiter serving the nearby tables was wearing an apron/uniform that had a rather unpleasant smell, which was noticeable even from a distance. I'm not sure if I just happened to visit on an off day or if the post-pandemic situation is affecting things, but I left feeling very let down.
Toque is as good today as it was when I first went there as a food writer in the 1990s. Remarqueable! Both my appetizer and main were an artful mix of ingredients: Fois gras terrine with corn cakes and peach purée and slices Magnet de canard with Madeira sauce and multiple bites of veg, including lobster mushrooms and the best artichoke hearts I've had in a long time. The duck was perfectly cooked to order. Our service professional,attentive, and personable. It's peaceful environment was well-suited to the fine dining restaurant Toque thoroughly still is. Merci!
The food was unique, with well-explored and expressive flavors. We even indulged in fresh truffles for an additional cost, which was definitely worth it. We chose the tasting menu, featuring seven courses paired with five glasses of wine. Each course was a delightful surprise; you truly have no idea what’s coming until the plate is presented to you. It was quite a show! Overall, I highly recommend Toqué to anyone in search of an exceptional culinary experience, especially if you're willing to invest around $500 for a night you’ll never forget. If I gave them a 10\10 you would think for sure they are friends of mine : Everything was delicious I didn't order the tasting menu because our reservation was late I had the foie gras (melt in your mouth and the duck (absolument delicieux une creme de mais comme mise en bouche was heaven I had the baba au rhum for my dessert I regret telling my husband I was going to share it with him lol Overall everything was excellent! What an incredible experience from start to finish with the 7-course tasting menu! The bartender did an outstanding job pairing cocktails, and the explanations for each dish and cocktail were spot on. We had a wonderful elegant lunch here. I'm glad we left. The food was definitely up to Michelin Star standards. Montreal has no one at present, but they should start with this. Not her fault, but a mistake in the Michelin system. The service was also very good. The food was amazing. Nice plated and my beef was like butter.
