I met with 2 friends at Atlantic Station and our 1st choice of restaurant was Yard House and they were extremely understaffed and had a 1 hour wait time and half of the restaurant had empty tables, so we left. We ended up at Toscana Ristorante Italia kind of by default and had never been there before. As with most service industries these days, they also appeared to be understaffed and even though the restaurant wasn 't busy when we arrived at about 4:30pm there seemed to be a lot of confusion and chaos. Our overall experience was meh out of ten. I wouldn’t recommend it and don’t intend on coming back. The food was painfully underwhelming; additionally, the service was poor. The presentation was excellent, but it was a letdown when the food tasted under season and bland. The worst part was our server. We had to get up and ask him to bring our food since he was inattentive. Lastly, I had an issue with the gratuity. Although I believe in tipping heavily and faithfully, and this wasn’t even the bare minimum. Compensation should reflect quality of service and diligence, not a given, because you showed up to work today.
The food was good, and the portions were large enough to serve 3 to 4 people, which explains the $25 price tag for an entrée. However, I was unhappy to find that a gratuity was automatically added to my bill without any prior notice. Since we were a party of four, I expected to be informed about this policy, but it wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. I only noticed it when I was signing the bill, which felt rude and inappropriate. This experience, coupled with the less-than-stellar service, has led me to decide not to return.
I am not sure why this place has so many negative reviews. Overall, the food was good and did have flavor. I ordered the gnocchi (in the spicy tomato sauce) and a margherita pizza. It was Saturday at 5pm and it was not insanely busy, but it was lively. The service was a little slow, but my server was still very attentive and sweet. The added gratuity of 18% is very clearly stated at the bottom of the menu. This place is a great for a date night or even dining alone, like I did.

First and foremost i had spent the rest of my afternoon after eating here throwing up and with diarrhea and the next day a fever (im assuming food poisoning) however the food looked great but main entrées are overpriced in my opinion while the fries were good and i think priced well the flavors arent inherently bad on either meal just not what i thought i was paying for including the automatic added gratuity for a party of 2
I had a wonderful dinner here. I was very impressed with our server—he was quick, polite, and incredibly attentive. Our drinks, appetizers, and entrées arrived promptly, and we enjoyed every dish! Although dessert was offered, we passed on it as we were already full. To my surprise, a complimentary tiramisu was packed for me to take home because it was my birthday, which I really appreciated.
Took my parents this weekend for their 38 wedding anniversary and wow! We had a blast. Food was great but the best part was Elizabeth’s brilliant and outstanding service! We will definitely come back.
The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent! The beer prices were great as well!
