Went on a Saturday night, week before Christmas with my wife for dinner just before a show at the Geva. Appreciated that the tables aren’t crammed together (no doubt owing to the face that all meals come out on trolleys rather than being carried by staff) but not eating on top of the table next to you makes it so much easier to relax and not strain to hear conversation. We had the seafood bisque and the calamari for appetizers. Calamari was excellent and the bisque I would describe as good rather than great. The bread and the butter/oil was very tasty as well. Excuses related to COVID are becoming tiresome. This restaurant has been in operation for many years, so that shouldn't be a factor. The staff seemed to be disorganized, with three different servers attending to our table, but they didn't communicate effectively. When we requested anything, it seemed that each one assumed the others would take care of it. Our wine arrived only midway through the meal, despite multiple reminders. My entrée, which included three pieces of meat, was served on a long, narrow tray, leaving no space for the family-style sides. I had to request a dinner or bread plate. However, when we received our bill, I noticed that I had been charged for a wagyu ribeye instead of the petite ribeye, which was a $30 difference. We asked the waiter if this was a mistake, and he returned within five minutes, saying he had removed our side dishes from the bill, which were $25, and even suggested he had done us a favor by taking off more than he should have. We didn’t argue over the $5 difference, but I was disappointed by how he handled the situation. Additionally, the manager or hostess gave us an unfriendly look, and nobody said goodbye as we were leaving. Overall, the treatment we received soured our birthday celebration, and I don’t think we will be returning.
Moving on to the main course, the steaks were a disaster. My son ended up eating mine because he couldn't cut through his Kansas strip steak, and he's 30 years old, so it wasn't a matter of strength; the knives were just inadequate. We had a pleasant experience at the bar with delicious food and drinks. The bar menu is different from that of the restaurant. I ordered shrimp along with a small side, while my son opted for a more substantial meal. Although we visited on a Friday evening, the service was a bit slow.
I'm always happy to refer people to this wonderful establishment. The food, service and overall ambience is satisfying. I encourage anyone who want a new experience in fine dining, to give it a chance. A great first date kinda place
Not sure I’ve had a better filet in my entire life. Service is second to none. Can’t find anything wrong with this place. Truly an incredible dining experience.
