we had a reservation and arrived on time. we were shown to a small table that relied on a living table of four other diners. we asked to sit at another place, as there was a series of sensible empty tables. after a lot...testing and convincing we were actually allowed to sit somewhere else. the starters arrived immediately and were in order. we had to clear our own starter plates out of the way when the main courses arrived. they were barely warm as they were obviously left standing in the kitchen. my spaghetti for example was quite controversial and solid. we decided to get out of desserts, but my double espresso that was made remained on the counter for an old one. so much, the barmann vol...
Overall we enjoyed our meal because the vibe was great and the location was amazing. We've been wanting to have a meal on a patio in Old Montreal for years, so this time, we did it. Service was great. Host was pleasant and the waiter...was attentive. However, the food was VERY expensive. Pasta bowls were $22-$44. The $22 pasta with rapini and sausage was not great and the $44 pasta frutti di mare had literally three of four pieces of fish, which we felt was a real ripoff (both the price for pasta and the portion). The drinks were amazing and the desserts looked delicious although we didn't partake. Those who had pizzas in our party enjoyed them.
we enjoyed an excellent dinner in trattoria gio when we visited Montreal! we had not made reservations on a very busy Saturday night, but fortunately secured a table on the terrace. the service was great, our meals were excellent, and we had luck enough to hear an impromptu performance of a fabulous cellist who was mentally great in the plaza right next to the restaurant! it was a wonderful evening. many thanks to this great fund of a restaurant!
we ate a casual dinner Saturday evening in trattoria gio. it was pleasant, good Italian and good pizza. If you could get a table outside, it could be nice. inside was very beautifully decorated. we were a little early for our 8:30 clock table, so we enjoyed a drink at the small bar in the inner and chatted with the very personable barkeeper. waiting the personal was professional.
Although it sits in the heart of the Place Jacques Cartier tourist district, it was a very nice place with great food. Service was excellent and friendly. Good wine and great people watching. We would return if in the area.
Delicious food, big portions, clean place, friendly active staff, very helpful waiters especially Sarah who was always smiling very attentive despite the busy crowded place during weekends. I highly recommend it.
the salty location along the plaza offers a beautiful variety of pastas, pizza and wine. the eating was very good and the service staff was warm and welcoming.
One of the usually bustling Italian restaurants with some standard authentic Italian dishes...good food, moderately priced great ambiance...try outdoor seating
Really cool vibe, outside seating available but was raining, wine bar. The spinach ravioli was amazing. The staff was very attentive and friendly.
