NIGERIA Eat the World NYC Review: Tropical Grill is a charming restaurant during the day and a lively lounge at night, making it a standout spot on the otherwise dull route from Rockaway Blvd to JFK. The afternoons are perfect for enjoying the delicious cuisine, including their highly praised fish pepper soup, which ranks among the spiciest dishes around. Sample some Nigerian beers and embrace the laid-back vibe of a West African afternoon at the bar. If you're planning a late-night outing, gather a group for bottle service and see if you can snag a seat in the VIP area.
Please avoid this restaurant at all costs because they will frustrate your life. Not only is the customer service terrible, but they also keep switching your order and sending unsealed food.The two plates of rice I ordered today both came unsealed and this is not the first time this has happened. Sometimes when you order carrot cake, they give you red velvet instead or when you order fried rice they give you jollof. I have tried to be patient with this restaurant but Ihonestly don't see myself ordering from here anymore.
This was my first experience with African cuisine, and I was pleasantly surprised. Although I'm not a big fan of meat, I initially tried the spicy goat served with pounded yam and Jollof rice, which was delicious. On my most recent visit, I opted for a meat-free dish, and they were very accommodating in making the necessary adjustments to meet my request. I really appreciate the excellent customer service here.
The food here is delicious and expertly prepared, as always. I highly recommend it as one of the best places for Nigerian cuisine. Their customer service is exceptional, even in the rare instance of a delivery issue. Keep up the great work! This is, without a doubt, the best Egusi (African Ground Pistachio) with Goat Meat I've ever had. The spice level is just right, and the flavor is simply perfection—*chef's kiss*! I could eat this every single day if I had the chance, haha. I will definitely be ordering it again!!!
The suya was quite dry and lacking in flavor. I requested extra suya spice and additional onions, but neither was added. The moi moi was also overcooked, causing it to dry out. Overall, I was really disappointed with my order today.
The food was okay. I believe it was overall a little stale and more bitter tasting than what I am accustomed to eating Nigerian food in Brooklyn. however, the meat was good and fully cooked which I appreciated.

I bought Egusu with mixed and pounded yam and there was only three tiny pieces in it and the yam was not cooked properly. And I vomited everything up
