A friend and I stopped in for lunch on a warm Sunday afternoon after a movie at the Nova. Even though it was after 2pm we were welcomed and were promptly issued menus and water and asked what we would like to drink. Didn't have to wait long to have our orders taken. I opted for Fettucine with Seafood and my friend had the beef burger. I loved my fettucine. Seafood in tomato sauce can sometimes be a little underwhelming, burying the seafood flavour in a weak and watery tomato sauce but this definitely was not the case here. Found a car park right outside the front door so it was just meant to be !! Parking on street costs $3.20 per hour until 1230 on a Saturday but we arrived at 1130 so only paid for the first hour and could stay parked there all day. Menu quite extensive with breakfast served from 730 Til approx 3pm (from memory). The lunch menu was vast though with plenty of options. I opted for the gnocchi with pumpkin and spinach. We always come to Lygon st to have lunch at Brunetti but they got rid of their Restaurant and we dont like the Cafe part as its too noisy so we went down the Road to Trotters. This is a great place for lunch with all sorts of Italian dishes and pizzas. We started with a Pizza which was delicious and then I had the Ragu with ribbon pasta which on a cold day hit the spot. All meals are very generous and my sister said that her marinara was one of the nicest she has ever had. It had a nice ambience and the wait staff were very attentive. Unlike a lot of tourist trap places in Lygon st it was also very reasonably priced.
Caught up with friends here at breakfast , plenty of seating inside and out. Staff friendly and helpful.We had coffees, teas , lemon and ricotta pancakes , crumpets and a potato stack.Food came out quick , coffee was strong and had good flavour.Pancakes where light and fluffy (just a little dry , maple syrup or more coulis fixed that).Potato stack , nice , light as well and good flavour.Crumpets (dr Marty's) nice too.Overall very nice food, I would go back and try other items from menu. Ordered two fish of the day - salmon fillets - $35 each. Both came over-cooked and inedible. Sent back with the promise of two new meals. Two came back, one OK, the other again over-cooked and inedible. It was not eaten. Owner sent the waitress over to say the best they could offer was a free coffee and 10% off the total bill. Feel ripped off. We'll never go back there again. Terrible experience! Fancy an owner getting a waitress to do what she should have done.
I found the service at Trotters was good (consistently so as I have eaten there a number of times over the past 25 years). The food was very good quality. It's not often that you get a pizza of the quality they served. Prices were also reasonable in relation to the food.My only gripe was a common problem with restaurants, that is cramming groups onto tables too small to accommodate everyone. It's like having Qantas food and service but in a Jetstar seat.
We booked this restaurant based on its proximity to Nova Cinema and I was pleasantly surprised by its excellent food, very friendly staff and relaxed, bustling atmosphere. The menu was simple, but delicious - we all finished everything on our plates. The food came quickly and the wine was excellent. Although it didn't affect our party, everything on the menu can be made gluten free which is impressive. We will be coming back!

Good place to have a latte and a cappuccino. Hot chocolate with marshmallows was also good. Nice decoration. Quiet and peaceful
