The cabbage salad is reminiscent of a Thai papaya salad but with an American flair. Shredded cabbage is dressed with a Thai-style dressing and generously topped with sunflower seeds, fresh mint, and crispy pig ear—it's so flavorful that it could easily serve as a spread on a sandwich. Another must-try is the collard greens melt, a remarkable combination of textures and flavors. This double-decker sandwich features slow-cooked collard greens on one half and coleslaw on the other. Topped with Swiss cheese and a cherry pepper dressing, it creates a juicy, satisfying sandwich that is exceptionally balanced. If you can only choose one dish, this is the one to get.
Absolutely delicious. The fried bologna was fried mortadella today. It was perfect and delicious (and huge! The mortadella was crispy, salty and tasty. We also tried the collard melt. The collard melt is easily one of the best sandwiches I 've ever had. Not for a second did I miss the meat. Also, the moist maker slice is essential otherwise the sandwich would be soggy. That slice soaks up all the likker and only enhances the experience. We also got a wedge salad we could not finish. We couldn 't finish it simply due to the size of the sandwiches. It was really good we just had no room. Would love to come back here!
Delicious. I words cannot do it justice, it felt as if a flavor unicorn descended from a constellation to prance upon my taste buds. Fried Bologna with potato chips on top and a Dijon sauce? Delicious. Incomparable. Perfection in simplicity and genius. Collard greens melt? A must. Every flavor represented. I want another for dinner! Fried pot pie? Surprising in the best of ways, absolutely scrumptious. The vibe? Immaculate. I would visit from Chicago just to eat here weekly if I could.
What a cozy, nostalgic feel. Loved the quirkiness of this restaurant. We were so excited to try the Fried Bologna Sandwich, and it did not disappoint!!! We also had the Head Cheese taco and not gonna lie. I wasn't sure if I would like it. We LOVED it, and we actually liked it more than the Bologna Sandwich. We visited New Orleans with the aim of enjoying some delicious food, and this meal stood out as the most memorable experience we had, regardless of price. I can't recall having bologna more than once in my childhood, but I would definitely choose to order the bologna sandwich here anytime. The hog head cheese taco was also excellent. The fries were decent, but nothing special.
Absolutely the best! The menu was mind-blowingly delicious. We tried several dishes, and my favorite was definitely the Mamma Tried Burger. It's right at the top of my list for the best burgers I've ever had. I also love that you can donate a meal, and the overall atmosphere here is fantastic. This place radiates joy and fun—it's truly one of a kind!
Doesn’t matter how many times we visit New Orleans or how many new restaurants are on our list, this place will always be one of our must visits. The food is nostalgic and soulful and quirky and smart just like Chef Mason himself. The time we tried the wedge salads and all other wedge salads should just gracefully bow out.
This is THE place to visit if you are in town and want to have a real taste of NOLA food and lifestyle! Their sandwiches are so tasty and special. Try the fried Bologna! OMG! This place lives up to the hype. Best fried bologna sandwich I have ever tasted. The fried pot pie was amazing as well. I will definitely add this to the list of places I visit every trip to New Orleans. Super friendly staff too. It's small so be prepared for the possibility of sharing a table.
