Let me just start by saying the food and atmosphere here are absolutely wonderful. Our party of four tried a pretty diverse assortment from the menu and enjoyed every second of it. The only thing that felt a little out of place was in the desserts. They essentially have a crème brûlée, some housemade donuts, and the best olive oil cake I've ever had. All these choices are incredible but they have a fourth choice which feels a little underwhelming and out of place in comparison to how great the other three choices were. The Turtle and the Wolf was divine! I dined there with my husband and two friends on Friday night and we had a blast! Candy who served us was exceptional and made us feel so welcome. The only slight disappointment was that I could tell the manager wanted us to leave after some time as she kept coming over and eye-ing our table but other people were also lingering after eating — the only difference is that they had wine and we did not. Aside from this, we loved it and will definitely be back! Update: The owner is awesome and called my husband and I personally last weekend to check in and to apologize on behalf of the manager. The fried chicken meal here is absolutely delicious! We usually opt for takeout so we can enjoy our meal at home, but this time we visited as a family. The staff were friendly and very patient with us. We ended up ordering all the desserts on the menu since we couldn't decide on just one, and every single one was a hit. This is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Montclair! The chicken dinner to-go is amazing, and it's even more delicious when you order it for dining in at the restaurant (it's not on the menu, but just ask your server). I've never had a dinner at T&TW that I didn’t absolutely enjoy, and the BYOB policy is a great extra perk!

Absolutely fantastic! I've been wanting to check out Turtle the Wolf since I moved here last year, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. The atmosphere is both quirky and classy, the dishes are unique, and the staff is extremely attentive. It's the perfect place for a date night!
