The restaurant is in a hotel, which is in the basement with bare concrete walls and a few wooden beams placed just under the ceiling in an attempt to give it some atmosphere. It was very brightly lit. On one side hung a series of oil paintings of schools of small fish. Even these lovely paintings did not make up for the lack of ambience and character. We found the menus to be confusing, although both of us speak Spanish fluently and have lived in Spain for more than 13 years. Even with the waiter 's explanation of the menus we still ended up confused. We chose the tasting menu Tradición 35 € per person, which consisted of six different plates and we were obliged to choose the same tasting me...
A fantastic experience. Hugely varied and enjoyable menu, built around a series of set menu options, starting at €24 or €28. We chose the eight course €35 menu and couldn 't have been happier. The opener of local tomatoes many ways was inspired, then the most delightful foie with truffle jelly and berry compote was brilliant. Cold cod with tomatoes was lovely, which led a phenomenal slow cooked egg with octopus and olive oil. Amasing! Next came warm cod cannelloni and then the local, succulent and gorgeous pork belly with yogurt. The desert of berries with sheep milk ice cream was a great finale. What a difference it can make when a restaurant is quite. When we came here it was quite. The room is styled architectural and soothing even with the concrete. We wanted to share our two entrees of asparagus and artichokes. That was facilitated by each dish being halved before being served individually. A master-stroke of exceptionally fine service and the willingness to provide us an experience. We had separate main courses. My wife the pork, large, and I had the pigeon, small. Both were great dishes but I did eat mine in small slices. I had the Curd and my wife the French Toast. Again both good and tasty. With the 2005 Prado de Irache the night went down a treat.
I had a cold tomato soup, breaded veal and chips with good quality wine and water, plus dessert. All for 19E. It was good quality food. But the dessert of cheese cake was strange more like a cake made from cheese than my normal experience of cheese cake . Good attentive yet discrete service. Starters and main courses were exquisite beautifully presented goats cheese salad,very flavoursome risotto,outstanding steak(who knew Spanish steak could be so good?)We would love to give this place a 5 but surprisingly the dessert was in no way up to the standard.Execellent value for €19(incl. water and wine)
Ate here two nights in a row because the food was amazing. Tiny portions prepared and plated perfectly. And really good wine. The service was so odd but I liked the waiter. It was all just a little off with the timing.
