The quality of the sushi is beyond anything that they will offer in their regular sushi and sashimi entrees, which admittedly I order with the omekase since the portions are small. This will be the last time I am eating food from this place unfortunately. I have been coming here for years and the sushi was actually good enough to make me come back even after being talked to rudely and slowest service time after time. The waitresses are the owners kids and just about the rudest lazy people you have ever seen. I ordered just last week from here and got a salmon avocado roll wrapped in cucumber and today when I tried ordering they told me they don't make that. The women on the phone was very defensive rude and facetious. Do not waste your time coming here. Always rude people and unfortunately people don't change. NEW OWNERSHIP. The family that has owned Umeya for what seems like forever now has recently sold the restaurant. I am all for giving new places and people a fresh fair chance and did just that. Unfortunately, the new ownership has taken this once local gem in the opposite direction. Fish, like the tuna, is no longer that beautiful color accustomed to a high end sushi spot that takes pride in their fish. It is now that odd neon pink color that comes with poor freezing techniques on low quality tuna. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I plan on revisiting Umeya later and seeing if things have improved. If it does get better I will update my review. Fingers crossed.
Freshest sushi around! If you live in the area... go and see for yourself. I have been going there for over 10 years, and never disappointed... Service is ok.. not great... but worth the sushi.. Miss the byob ! They now have a liquor license. Can add a lot to your bill if drinking.. Not a cheap dinner, but worth saving for.. Not fancy, not elegant, but dark and relaxing... Can be romantic, if you sit in the back.. but be prepared for very very slow poor service.

The food is decent, but the attitude of the owners and staff leaves much to be desired. The prices are quite high, and you would expect a warmer welcome for that kind of cost. Additionally, they don't consistently wear masks. I won't be coming back.
I've been visiting this restaurant for years and have always loved it. The sushi is always fresh, making it a local favorite. Occasionally, it closes at inconvenient times, but that won't stop me from coming back.
Friendly family business. They remember you if you're a regular. Their sashimi is amazing incredibly fresh and silky like butter! Their sashimi sushi combos are definitely good value for what you get!
Sushi is fresh, sometimes they are as busy that wait times are a little high, and service slow, but consistent in terms of the quality of fish.

Excellent omakase sushi for the price. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the house hot sake is enjoyable. Five stars!
