I had the worst table services in the restaurant today! When I arrived with my friends, they request us to wait outside because of COVID-19 restriction! Fair enough, we decided to wait outside the bench! I decided to get a Messina ice cream across the...road, by the time I got back to the bench, the waitress yelling at me: you need to finish your ice cream now at the front of everyone! I put up with it, got inside the restaurant, sit down, foods arrived! Don’t get me wrong, foods were great, but when I request three take away boxes to test her: she gave me the weird look and say: now you need three take away boxes, do you need three take away bag? And I’m like is that necessary to talk to yo...

Una's is something of a Darlinghurst institution, having been in this location for decades. There is also something of a tradition of abrupt or brusque service. I was forewarned by the friends who took us there and right on cue, the waiter appeared and was...predictably grumpy. It was a bit like finding yourself in the middle of a Fawlty Towers episode so it amused us. It’s not personal and I think it’s just part of their schtick. The food is home-style Austrian cooking. Lots of schnitzels, rosti, cabbage and apple strudel and schnapps. Saying that the servings are generous is an understatement. The schnitzel was as big as my head. We ordered entrees as well which meant we had way too much f...

Came in for a Sunday lunch and signed into the covid sign in book and stood there for a few minutes while a waitress walked by me and ignored me. I could see other waitress mulling around the kitchen chatting and ignoring me. Then a...waitress came out running food and by passed me while I stood there waiting to be greeted and seated. Eventually a surly looking waitress came out and I had to approach her about sitting at a table. I was told then by this abrupt and unfriendly waitress that there was a queue and I had to wait. Nice to be finally told only after inquiring and in such a rude and unfriendly manner. I understand in Covid we need to adhere to spacing and that restaurants can only f...

I visited this restaurant on Sunday, October 11th around 1:30pm, which was a very quiet day. My party of two asked for a table and the waitress, who wore glasses, told us we could sit either by the window or inside. We chose a four-seater table away from other customers, assuming it wouldn't be an issue since the restaurant was quiet. However, the waitress abruptly told us we could only sit at a window table or a two-seater table. I was taken aback by her rudeness, as we had not been informed of this rule earlier and it could have been communicated more politely. What surprised me even more was when two older white men arrived ten minutes later and were given a four-seater table. I was shock... Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

The girl name Una is also used as a boy name (we are in Kings Cross) and though the use for girls is far more popular, Una 's language of origin is Old Greek, Una is a form (Irish) of the Dutch, English, German, and Scandinavian....So, if you want the best ever hearty, home cooked style dinner or lunch, then forget the rest and just go to Una 's in Kings Cross (Sydney). The food is very 'germanic ' and has overtones of Hungarian and Austrian cuisine. The portion control is out of this world so forget about breakfast and lunch if you are going for dinner. The specialities, in my view, are the Pork-Knuckle and the Chicken Schnitzel (look at the photos). To add value for anyone who value their...

We have been an on and off customer at Una's for many years. It is a local favourite and one which I would always give at least 3 to 4 stars, basic honest food. Things have changed over the years. Prices have increased and now...a Schnitzel is getting near $30 which is on the high side for a pub staple. What we really didn't like was their bad service, we ordered their Gypsy Schnitzel which comes with sauce, we asked for the sauce on the side and were then told if they didn't pour it onto the food there was an extra charge. Really ridiculous, we are not asking for extra sauce or anything other than not to pour it over the food. Pathetic, this was once a worthy basic restaurant but now far fr...

Una's in Kings Cross (Sydney) offers hearty, home-cooked style dinners and lunches with a focus on German, Hungarian, and Austrian cuisine. The portion sizes are generous, making it a great spot for a filling dinner. Specialties include the Pork-Knuckle and Chicken Schnitzel. Una's is BYO, so you can enjoy your own wine with your meal. The restaurant has been serving traditional home-style cuisine for over 50 years, so you know they're doing something right. Don't expect fancy decor, just delicious food. I loved it.

Great food, good wine and if you sit by the very large opening onto the street, you get to enjoy the entertainment of the various examples of humankind as they wander past in various states of disarray! A must for people watchers who like good...food....oh, and a warning....the tomato sauce on the spaghetti is so good that it has a mind of it's own and throws itself all over you clothing!!! After being in business for more than 50 years, Una's must be doing something right. I love the simplicity of this restaurant; why change what works? It's always a fantastic night with a wonderful atmosphere in a fantastic location, sitting outside and watching the world go by. And of course, I always go for the chicken schnitzel.
