I made a reservation for a table on Friday, August to meet my daughter who was visiting from Alpes Maritime. We were traveling a long way to have lunch together. I usually don't like gastropubs because many of them are pretentious and overpriced, and sometimes you leave feeling hungry after receiving small portions of fancy cuisine. Last night we ordered fish and chips, fishcake and burger take away. WOW It was amazing. Very easy to phone and book with collection time. Arrived at allocated time. The pub looked lovely and welcoming with a roaring fire even though there was no...customers). The food was ready in a bag on the bar. Friendly, cheerful staff on hand to help. The meals were top quality. Fresh fish in a light batter, tasty chips and mushy peas with a pot of tartar and lemon wedge. Same for fish cakes. The burger was the best I have had in a long time. Well cooked and tasty with a side of creamy coleslaw. All packed in secure cardboard boxes so still warm when we got home. Give ths pub a try on a Friday you will...

Promoted as being vegetarian and vegan friendly, I visited on a Saturday evening only to find that there were no vegetarian options listed on the menu, let alone any vegan choices. When I inquired, the staff was unable to provide me with any immediate vegetarian selections for the evening. After checking with the kitchen, they could only offer one vegetarian option. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Just what we needed. We try to go here once every few months and it never disappoints. First meal out in months and we left smiling. Lovely food that is deceptively simple. Flavours and seasoning absolutely on point. Very polite and professional serving staff. Covid...secure, clean and tidy. Banging cheesecake. Posh roast chicken with bread sauce! Ham hock fritters. Visited for lunch back in April shortly after phase restrictions were lifted which meant we could have lunch outside. Well organised and a good set up with seating in the garden and on the patio under a large gazebo. Very good friendly service and...the food was simply excellent, lovely presentation and wonderfully delicious.

We had a meal recently with friends and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I had in a long time. Two of my friends had the lamb and said it was the best lamb they had ever had and was...cooked to perfection. I had the fish which was beautiful. The service was great and the staff were really friendly.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and it always offers great value. The food is better than average, the service is friendly, and the pub has a beautiful, secluded garden area.

Sunday roast is one of the best I have ever had. The lamb was just amazing, you have to try it, but make sure you book well in advance. We'll be back!

Second day of opening .. really well organised. Food was great. Reduced menu but great choice. Lovely staff.. really enjoyable long lunch
