My sister-in-law, my nephew, and I went to Ups N' Downs to enjoy a light meal and be social. My nephew, who is three years old, accidentally pulled the fire alarm, not knowing what it was, so quickly that we didn't see this happen until it was too late. I immediately ran to the bar to let the servers know that it was a false alarm and that my nephew mistakenly pulled the alarm. One of the servers was kind enough to say it's ok and was very nice about it, so we continued on with our meal. Growing up in Sarnia I have eaten at this establishment many times. One visit we had in February this year was fantastic. Great service, good food, wonderful company and cold beers. This past weekend our experience was less enjoyable. We got a great seat near the open window. I love sitting here in the summer to people watch but still watch baseball on tv. Our server was very friendly and good at what she does. However my beer on tap was pretty flat and tasteless. Our green salad appetizer had mushy cherry tomatoes and overall was very bland. We stopped in for dinner and boy did they not disappoint! The food was fantastic. The service was great. I had the liver and onions and he had the French onion soup and Caesar salad! The food was fantastic! The liver and onions were done to perfection and reminded me of my mom!They had a good beer selection along with a decent wine selection!It is a great little pub/restaurant. Lots of locals but they are very welcoming to all tourists. Will definitely go back if ever in Sarnia again!
Have eaten here for many a year (20+) was always good.Not so much the past year, think the chef got a new piece of equipment a microwave!Went last night Saturday had shrimp curry very good and fish and chips fish good fries limp and soggy.By the time my replacement fries arrived meal was over and I do mean over.Complained to waitress on soggy fries she replied chef has been told he will not listen!Perhaps seeing this he will listen now or maybe his boss will!! Fantastic service, food and atmosphere!!! We only get gluten free and have never been sick after (and we have to be more careful than most - extremely sensitive). Was worth a trip over the border for the delicious meats. Both steak sandwich and burger were cooked to perfection.Local beers hit the spot and the music was great. The friendly and helpful waitresses topped it all of. Next time I'm in Port Huron I will make the trip over to Canada for Up & Downs again.
Took the folks out for dinner today and thought Id try the Clubhouse for a change... Sadly I was disappointed in this. It was deli chicken not real chicken and for $8,50 versus $8.75 for a Quesadilla with REAL chicken, I think ill stick with that next time as a menu choice..

Tony James (main chef) is the master of Curry Fridays, served up special every Friday. Great staff. A must-stop location if coming to Sarnia, any day of the week.
