Being from a smaller town, I tend to think I can walk into a restaurant and get a table. Not this place! I don't think the bloke was really sincere when he apologized for no table being available but why would you at the number 1 restaurant? Not to be phased, we amended this error by booking the following night. I'm so glad we did.One thing I am always conscious about when eating in nice places... is doing so with a toddler. I am always afraid the experienced would be marred by him causing a disturbance and misbehaving (mostly screaming) but to my surprise, the male waiter was quick to appease our toddler with a toy and constant interaction. Came here with a friend for dinner at 8pm. We booked a table earlier that afternoon to ensure a table and I would recommend that. The restaurant was very busy upon arrival. Ordered the Minotaur tasting menu. There was a range of dishes and we were very full by the end of the meal. They also serve a few Greek wines and we tried one. It was a delightful red, light and slightly sweet. The staff were busy and yet serviced us politely and professionally. Try not seat near the front during winter nights as the cold draft comes through when the sliding doors open. I would recommend this place for a special night or catching up with good friend over good food.
Downtown Hobart was fairly quiet at 8pm on a Friday night but Urban Greek was pumping. Despite being busy service was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and not just the usual dips and bread. Between 5 of us we tried 6 dishes and each one was yummy. Servings are very generous so ordering the $50 banquet would be way too much food. Good selection of wines by the glass and great to see mainly local wines. Loved the fit out - a bit industrial but with clever mood lighting the atmosphere was warm and inviting and not too noisy. Can't wait to go back again.

If u love Greek food you won't be disappointed. Great ingredients, with people who are passionate about what they do. One word is YUM! Book at least a few days ahead to avoid disappointment. Moussaka is awesome as are all the grill plates. The guys are friendly and knowledge and great wine list. Good for couples and or ladies night out.
We had our first dining experience at Urban Greek last night and we were very impressed. A wonderful atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic staff. We ordered the Minotaur Banquet between 4 of us and all loved it. The vanilla and pistachio ice creams were beautiful. We will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends!
Can't believe this is number 1 in hobart. Lovely interior but terrible food. When the waitress asked how our meal was, we told her the truth and she laughed in our face and said hope it's better next time. So disappointing especially after we were so looking forward to good Greek food. Not worth it.
I've been there twice, and enjoyed the banquet each time. I need to be more adventurous, but it is VERY noisy, and shared food is easy when it's hard to concentrate.

Was looking forward to visiting as I had heard great reports. My main was huge and very tasty- good wine list and attentive staff.
Two of us shared the meat platter well cooked tasty and more than enough. Good variety of dishes all at the table were impressed.
