Assuming that not having eaten my vote can be wrong, I review this place only after drinking some beer. The pub belongs to Castle Rock Brewery a historic independent brewery of Nottingham. The brewery was founded by the owners of a pub that, after many years of serving quality beer, decided to open a brewery to turn the pubs into the factory's real tap rooms. Of course, within the more than 20 open rooms you can also find beers of other English craft and independent labels, but to make the big voice are the CRB beers, which bets on clear and dark typical of the English tradition. The Vat&Fiddle is a superb pub that offer's a fine range of Castle Rock brewery beers and was one of the best pubs we visited in Nottingham. Housed in a superb 1930s art-deco style building with superb outside seating.The inside is brilliant with lots of good seating options and throughout the pubs interior many interesting features which relate to Castle Rock brewery. Last time I came in here it was before Covid, after seeing my team play Forest. I remember it well. Pleased to find it hasn't changed. Friendly staff, good beer from the brewery behind the pub, a relaxing place to drink. Always worth the very short walk from the station. A gem hidden in plain sight.

Yes, it's chilly! Very cold, which is good if you're concerned about Covid since it's spacious and airy. The pub itself is average, but with good service. The restroom could use some improvement, but overall it's a decent spot.
Great before lockdown and still good with helpful staff making the current situation work, sat outside with table service, plenty of real ale choices and will be back again.
