We had dinner here on both nights of our stay in Clisson with our French friends. We were staying at the hotel and the restaurant has a good reputation, plus a number of appetising dishes listed on the menu. On the first night we took...drinks on the terrace, and then to a table, also on the terrace, to dine. I was charged with the responsibility of ordering the wine and I chose a Muscadet from Clisson, a 2014 Sur Lie. This was a very good wine, and with its age it was a different Muscadet than I have experience before: as we tend to drink our Muscadet at 2-3 years old. we were just a few days away in France and constantly going to north (to the ferry from ouistreham back to portsmouth.) this followed a visit to our double-rotary club with seat in the French community melle, in the southwest france to help their members celebrate their 50. jahrtag der charter als rotary club. we had eaten in this hotel restaurant during our two-night stay here in august 2019 and we found eating very well. fantastic hotel, beautiful location and very helpful staff. but started problems when we decided to eat in the restaurant. there were only about 3 main courses and if this is the case, we usually expect fantastic quality, as they focus on these dishes alone. but the translation of the menu into English was so appalling that if it had not been for the fact that I speak French, we would never have realized that it was fish on the menu.
