Booked for Sunday dinner. Arrived and ordered drinks and told staff it was our first visit here. We were shown to our table promptly but not told we had to order meal at bar so we sat there for a while and after about 15 minutes went to bar to order. Attempted to order 4 trio roast dinners for our party. Was told none left so I tried ordering the roast beef and told none left. Reluctantly we ended up ordering the turkey. However, potatoes were overdone and no stuffing which was supposed to be part of the meal and the portion for the money was a bit on the mean side. We ate our meals and left promptly. Had a lovely lunchtime meal. I had the pie of the day, which was very good, the mash and greens were very nice but the carrots were far too hard for me and they had the lasagne which was also lovely and we both enjoyed it and good value for money. Went back today on a wet, miserable day for lunch. Well, we had a lovely warm welcome and a lovely lady called Bina who was just so nice and polite and so helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. Two of us had a duo of lamb, which was so delicious that we didn't think of taking a picture and one had a pizza, and we all had a pudding two had the bramley apple blackcurrant and cherry crumble which was so good and one had the sorbet
the food was excellent. I had 3 courses and can't wait to return! a little on the expensive side for a pub, but every penny worth. service was also very good. I'm all for dog-friendly pubs, but personally no fan. I had a dog bowl on the floor close to where I sat and a few had their dog with them the closest table and they were very happy to let their dog jump and put his paws on the table and even lick the women's plate! disgusting! also the dog clashed constantly, which was annoying. I think a designated area for people with dogs would be more suitable. except that I would definitely return.
