The food was definitely 5* the best in Sheffield. Not been in for a few years as they don’t open on a Tuesday anymore but we spotted it open and went in. The let down was the female waitress who was 1*…. On being seated she just stood at the end of the table while we decided on a drink more professional to give a few minutes and come back. Same one as soon as finished starter swiped the plate away while still chewing. She didnt bring the main meals but cleared the plates and brought the hot towel… a few minutes later she came over and said “ are you ready for your bill” never asked if wanted any more drinks , desert , tea/coffee. Made us feel like we needed to leave so got it paid and rushed...
We ate as a group of 4 an a quite busy Saturday evening. We had three different starters between us, all went down well. We had 4 different main courses and left nothing but a bit of naan. The only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was we thought that the plates and dishes could have done with being warm when the food was placed in them, it's a small point but makes so much of a difference to the meal. This made both the starters and the mains go cool quickly, but otherwise the flavours and spicing were well controlled and appropriate.
We really feel that the standard of food has dropped at Viraaj. We prefer to order from a local restaurant but tonight the chicken tikka dhansac was very watery and tasteless and didn't use chicken tikka, the tikka masala was lacking in any depth of flavour and the korma was bland, more bland than it should be. Even the sauces and chutneys were watery. A shame and will probably not use again as a take out or restaurant now.
Went yesterday after seeing some good reviews. Was welcomed in and ordered drinks that never arrived but after telling someone they eventually did. Ordered starters, which come after the main meal! Still placed them on our table even tho we'd started eating our mains and even charged us when they were absolutely pointless. Food was ok at best and I definitely won't be going back anytime soon. Interesting menu. Good selection of dips for the popadoms. All 4 curries were very good. The lamb was really tender. Mushroom rice was the best I had. Pashwari Nan was a bit plain but plenty flavour elsewhere. Overall definitely a 5 star experience.
Restaurant has a nice atmosphere and staff are friendly. I ordered the Cod Tandoori and it was very rubbery and not great. However my partner had chicken which she did enjoy. Starters, poppadoms and pickle tray were nice too aswell.
Exceptional Indian restaurant in the heart of Woodseats. Decent sized portions, visually beautiful and with incredible flavours. Add to that, it's not expensive. Topped off with Kingfisher lager and great service.
Really good Indian restaurant with excellent food (Tarka Dahl was the best I have ever had), good unhurried service even though very busy, and very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Very poor tbf been told to go here don't know how it's won awards everything died in red food colouring really disappointing meal won't be returning
