Had difficulties finding a good quality restaurant that was open in Canberra on a Sunday night. Our hotel concierge was no help at all. Thank God for Tripadvisor! The booking facility in Tripadvisor helped me identify this fantastic restaurant, tables designed for views of the lake. We arrived at 7pm, and so could appreciate the view of the lake dining at our table before the sun went down (not much to see at night time). Nice ambience. This restaurant only allows you to have a four course meal with choices in each section for $77. We think this a bit inflexible and saw them turn away people who only wanted dessert late in the evening even though on a Wednesday night there were only six people in the restaurant and the desserts were possibly the biggest success of the night. I'm sure a lunch of two or three courses would also be more popular.We enjoyed all our four courses and the beautiful presentation with a few things that could have been improved. Very nice location, at the edge of Canberra's lake, with sweeping views across the lake to the War Memorial. Decor was high quality and service (on a night with few diners) was good.Unfortunately, for me that's where the good news ends. The set menu (4 courses for $77) offered a limited number of choices. The quantity of food was OK if you are a light eater, but the single, lonely prawn in my first entrée was decidedly mean. The first three savory courses were marginal, not terrible, pretty to look at, but taste wise and harmony of ingredients not in keeping with the menu price. What saved the night for me was the dessert, which was excellent. If only the other dishes were of similar appeal....
Looking for a romantic or special dinner out with close friends with a unique lakeside location? Water's Edge is ideal and it won't break the bank! The menu is a fixed 4 course multiple choice presentation at $77/head with supplements for some extras. The wine list is extensive but mostly little known labels - with care a group of 4 can drink at a reasonable price. The food presentations are excellent but you need all four courses (2 x entree style, a main and a dessert) if you are not to walk away hungry. Staff are friendly and certainly not overbearing. Our visits are always very satisfying and we would always recommend the venue for special events.

My girlfriend and I had a fabulous meal here last night. The food was outstanding across all courses, emphasising the flavours and freshness of the produce. The menu had options for all tastes and was beautifully presented. The wait staff were so attentive and passionate about what they were serving. In addition, they didn't miss a beat when asked to cater for gluten free. The atmosphere was so relaxing but had a nice buzz in the background although not so much that you couldn't have a great conversation. The view across the Lake just added to the wonderful experience. Would recommend for anyone local or visiting Canberra!
My partner and I had the four course set menu for dinner, with three to four choices per course. The food was superb and although the portions were small, we didn't leave feeling hungry. The service was very good, however the clanging of cutlery being cleaned behind the bar was a little annoying. Waters Edge is a lovely place to dine for a special occasion and I would recommend it to anyone.
We were fortunate enough to be there for Skyfire - great place to watch the fireworks from. Food and service were fine. Staff thoughtfully enquired whether we wanted a break to watch the show.
Came to this restaurant for the first time for a party and the food was amazing and service was spot on! Will definitely be back to try out some more of the menu.

This place is excellent, food, service, background music and outlook - one of Canberra's very best! the four courses menu was terrific value for money.
