My partner and I had high hopes for our meal, but we noticed that the servers spent much of their time chatting amongst themselves and not attending to customers. Each dish took about 15 minutes to arrive, which felt excessive. While I understand that larger sharing dishes may take longer, we were served each dish 15 minutes apart. We ordered the Numbing Salad, You Fan, and Steamed Fish. By the time the Steamed Fish arrived, our rice had gone cold because we were waiting to eat it with the fish; we didn’t want to tackle a whole plate of rice and a whole steamed fish separately. The quality of the food was satisfactory, however, the restaurant was excessively noisy. I would not recommend this establishment for a first date, as the tables are situated very close together, resulting in limited privacy. Conversations from neighboring tables can be easily overheard. While the location is undoubtedly advantageous, the prices of the food items were somewhat excessive. Some of the dishes were served at a less than ideal temperature. Upon being seated, there was a noticeable delay before we were provided with water or acknowledged by the serving staff. The restroom facilities were reminiscent of a nightclub. Food wasn’t as great as expecting and the tables were so close together and it was super loud. Beef noodle soup didn’t stay hot even though it was steaming. But it was decent. Popcorn Chicken was nice. You fan, might not have been my cup of tea but needed more flavors other than the dried shrimp and anchovy. I love sticky rice and thought I would enjoy this, but was surprised. Also, service was pretty “here and there” but there is grace since it was only 2 waiters/waitresses and many patrons. Overall, I went for a birthday dinner but wouldn’t go back. Super excited to try it out since looking at a YouTube video but fell very short for me personally.
I was so excited to try this spot and man it did not disappoint! Our server angel was full of knowledge about Taiwanese food and super warm. My friend and I shared the sesame noodles, the popcorn chicken, the shrimp lettuce wraps and the celtuce salad. Everything was so delicious and full of balanced flavor. Personally the celtuce salad and the pop corn chicken were my favorites. Can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this restaurant. Wilted pea shoots and thin handkerchiefs of tofu skin have a crackling energy that may not be fully explained by the garlic and Shaoxing wine they’re stir-fried with. Cucumber wedges marinated with pineapple juice and vinegar until they start to go pale and soft — if they were served with a pastrami sandwich, you’d call them half-sours — are saturated with the untamed flavor of raw garlic. Sichuan peppercorns, both ground and made into an oil, coat strands of vinegar-dressed celtuce until it feels as if electrons were kickboxing on your tongue.
Top notch Taiwanese American food. Sami is THE man! He was attentive and super welcoming. We had a table of 3 and ordered three cup chicken, peashoot with tofu skin, lily flemming fried rice, pork belly with cuttlefish, and last but not least did you really have Taiwanese food without a bowl of hearty beef noodle soup? Drinks were also on point #SHYBOYXL forever.
Oof not our vibe … seems to be an unpopular opinion. Acoustics were bad making it tinsely and too loud. We sat at 8p, not too late for a city we thought?, but they were out of quite a few dishes, maybe could plan/order better I would think, and the food was underwhelming. Food of my people! Came with a group for the chinese new year's feast and we were gobsmacked at how delicious, generously filling, and fun a time we had. Can't wait to come back.
