Feeling like having seafood, a friend and I decided to visit Whalers in Bay Shore. It was a beautiful Thursday evening, ideal for dining on their dock. We kicked things off with cocktails; I opted for the coconut margarita, which was absolutely delightful and will be on my mind for days. For our appetizer, we shared the steamed PEI mussels, and the garlic crostini was delicious! I visited for brunch at 1:00 PM on a Sunday. When I arrived, the restaurant was relatively quiet, but it was packed by the time I left around 2:30 PM. I started with the crab cake appetizer, which was good but not outstanding. For my main course, I ordered the Summer Salad, and it was very enjoyable! I decided to add some spicy chicken, but they couldn't offer regular grilled chicken, which I found strange. Unfortunately, the spicy chicken was quite disappointing; it had an odd taste, reminiscent of questionable Chinese takeout chicken. Thankfully, it was served on the side, so I hardly touched it. Overall, the food was good, the view was beautiful, and the restaurant itself was charming.
This is my second time at Whalers and I loved it. As an out of towner I am instantly in a better mood by enjoying a meal by the water. They have a decent size patio so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. I ordered the lobster Cobb salad, with a lobster bisque. (I know double lobster. I was sooo impressed with the amount, freshness, and flavor of the lobster in the salad. I would definitely say that's a salad to share if you're getting other things. I visited this restaurant for lunch yesterday around 11 AM, and overall, it was a great experience. I started with a rose martini, which was delicious. We shared the garlic soy buffalo wings, and they were tasty. We also ordered shrimp dumplings for the table; I wasn't a fan, but my husband enjoyed them. For my main course, I had a tuna poke bowl. It was a generous portion for $25, and I couldn't finish it. The service was a bit lacking, as they forgot to provide my friend with a spoon, and he had to ask two or three times for one for his soup. Despite the service hiccup, I would consider coming back if I'm in the area.

Solid choice! We have been wanting to check this place out for a while and glad we did! The food was pretty good with a stunning view and atmosphere. I would say the menu could offer a bit more but being that we came towards the end of the summer season, it may have contributed to the menu. The service was great, very friend and attentive staff!
Overall a pleasant experience. Great view sitting outside, and the Swordfish special was amazing! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the meal was excellent. However, there were quite a few wasps buzzing around.
