We booked a table at the pub following the Kirkella Christmas Lights switch-on, reserving a week in advance. To celebrate the event, the pub generously offered free mulled wine and mince pies to the community. Inside, the pub was beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was exceptional. Even better, we received a 30% off voucher in the mail earlier that day for main courses, which reduced our total bill from approximately £120 (for two adults and two children, each having a main course and dessert, plus an extra side dish) to just £88. Came here with my family for a Sunday roast, it’s not easy to find a pub that caters for dogs and vegetarians and does a decent carvery so this place tucked all the boxes. I guess because we had a dog we weren’t in the formal dining area which I’m sure would have been a better place to dine as opposed to sat with the regulars watching rugby but that would be my only gripe so can’t complain really as the food was hot and tasty and came quite quickly despite being super busy so very impressed. The baked cheesecake was a winner too! Will definitely be back! Offer of a small dog carvery would be a fab idea for say £3-£5 our dog loves turkey, veg and gravy! We’d buy it! We had a family 'build up to Christmas ' meal at the Wheatsheaf pub/ restaurant.The restaurant was busy, as expected, but we were served quickly not rushed) The menu is varied with plenty of choice for all ages and tastes. The dishes we chose, from steaks to salads, were all very tasty. No left overs! The staff were very efficient and polite and the pub looks lovely dressed for the season. We had a lovely time and will definitely be going back soon. Would recommend. Brilliant staff. 5 minutes walk from where I live. Just wish you could stock my favourite gin Masons Original. I keep asking as you used to stock it. It is a local gin made in Yorkshire.Alas all that is available is the lavender which has been on the shelf for ages and no one drinks. I drink masons original at hope and would go to the Wheatsheaf more often if you had this gin. As always the staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The food was enjoyable anv well presented. We try and have something different everytime and are rarely disappointed.
