My husband and I came here and we could not have had a better Newport restaurant experience. We came here the day after dealing with a terribly rude manager experience from Clarke Cooke House, and we had only wished we knew sooner how incredible White Horse Tavern is. We ordered the duck scotch egg, vegetables, and oysters as an appetizer. The scotch egg was indescribably good! I had the beef wellington for dinner which was mouthwatering my husband had the Duck Confit. The meat was falling off the bone, it was cooked perfectly! We couldn't stop raving about our food over dinner. Every bite had us practically drooling! Not to mention the historic and ambient atmosphere being the oldest operat...
My husband and I visited for dinner on Saturday. We appreciated that the White Horse Tavern was able to accommodate us when we arrived early for our reservation. You can tell the building has been lovingly restored without losing its character. My husband and I split the lobster bisque, the crispy Halloumi cheese, Brussels sprouts, and the beef Wellington. The Halloumi cheese and the beef Wellington were standouts! We loved the slightly spicy sauce with the cheese and our beef was cooked perfectly medium and the puffy pastry around it added texture and flavor. Our servers were attentive as well. I’d eat at the White Horse Tavern again!
We came in for Restaurant Week and had a delightful dinner! Ordered one field greens salad and one French onion soup, followed by two Beef Wellingtons (cooked perfectly rare to our liking), and two seasonal bread puddings (cinnamon apple with vanilla gelato). Also added a dozen oysters and split a Scottish Duck Egg. Our server was a delight, overall a terrific experience.
Destiny was our server and she was AMAZING so personable and knowledgeable! Beef Wellington was amazing, sides and veggies delicious, perfect portions, lovely atmosphere. Will be a Newport staple from now on. Thanks for a lovely night

The worst dining experience I’ve had in over a decade. Staff is incredibly rude and unwelcoming and the atmosphere felt like I was in a funeral home. Only good part was the lobster bisque.
Oldest tavern in America still serves great food. The menu is small, but good. The wine list is extensive and the service is excellent.
Another lovely meal. The food is delicious and the service is attentive. It's so much fun being in this ambiance.
Love the restaurant and food. The atmosphere and service were spectacular. I’d go back anytime!
