First off, I'm glad this location has FINALLY re-opened! After suffering extensive water damage in the summer, this place finally opened its doors in early December. Quinoa lifts oatmeal out of the bland boring basement without compromising its satisfying rusticity. Toasted almonds adds to the nutty complexity, and dried cranberries provide a sweet contrast. I did not need, or want, the milk and brown sugar. A side of fruit salad rounded off the meal perfectly. The presentation in a cast iron pan plays up the rustic wholesomeness of this dish. The food was okay. The price was okay. The service was abominable.Ten minutes to get a beer - okay. But another five minutes to get a glass to drink it out of? Another twenty minutes brought my food. So this is thirty minutes I have been in there. I had eaten most of my dinner and finished all my beer when the "sweet young thing" asked how everything was. I asked for a glass of water. Twelve minutes later she passed by my table saying she was just going to get my water. I said not to bother, I had a plane to catch and just bring me my check. My son and I waited to be seated for over 10 minutes, along with 2 other couples. The servers just darted past us delivering food not once making eye contact or saying, someone will he with you in a sec. Nothing. Blank, frustrated, unhappy looking staff. But they weren't all unhappy, you could hear all sorts of chatter and laughter from the kitchen where Theresa (the manager) was also hanging out. Did I mention there were now 8 of us "waiting to be seated." When we decided a bar stool would be fine and acceptable to seat yourself, right!? WRONG! Having an early morning departure from YYJ, there are very limited places to have a breakfast before a flight.The White Spot is conveniently located in the airport and opens at 0700. We were quickly seated by friendly staff. Breakfast was typical white spot faire, and coffee was hot. Just what we needed before a 4.5 hr. flight. The meal was served in a timely manner, as one would hope in an airport :) Would definitely return next time flying through YYJ
Slightly hampered by a liquor license that does not allow the restaurant to serve alcohol before 10 am, the staff made up for that with exceptional service and yummy breakfast.Candied salmon, goat cheese, and a spinach in an omelette is something that should be served everywhere !A nice change from the mediocre Vancouver airport restaurants.
We got to the airport in plenty of time in the morning for our ret'n flight home and had time for a sit down breakfast. Had seen the White Spot when we arrived a few days earlier. As we always enjoyed a breakfast at White Spots in Victoria, the White Spot in Victoria International Airport was our choice.My wife ordered Bacon
Stopped by here for a light dinner before our flight to Calgary. The waitress provided us with excellent service. We shared an asian salad and a goat cheese flatbread. Both were very fresh and tasty. Breakfast selection was limited. Egg/bacon muffin and hash browns (tasteless ) were expensive. Coffee was nearly $3.00 no refills offered. Service was slow so give yourself some time before having to be at the gate.
