We visited the pub for lunch with our family. I'm afraid never again. A beautiful pub and although the bar and restaurant was not busy we waited a considerable time to be served at the bar.The youngish blonde barmaid was mostly interested in chatting to regulars and then trying to make herself appear busy.Eventually another lady served us drinks so we tried to get the other ladies attention to order more drinks and food but she again seemed more interested in chatting away to her friends and locals than serving us (and another couple that walked in shortly after)! We waited a total of 10 minutes and were further dismissed so we left and ate in another nearby inn. A terrible shame.
Having not visited for a while, we met up with a friend. The bar/restaurant was very busy but the welcome was friendly and efficient. The menu allows a good choice and we established that the dietary requirements of one member of our party could be catered for. Orders are taken at the table, and when served the quality and large (maybe too large), portion sizes generally represented very good value. Unfortunately, one of the meals contained very dry chicken, which was advised to the waitress, and reflected in our Food rating. Service was excellent throughout.
The restaurant is nice, but it was a bit cold inside. The staff were friendly but inexperienced, as they never cleared tables and often went back to the kitchen empty-handed despite having several tables to clear for over 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the waitresses had long hair that wasn't tied back, which could lead to a hair getting in the food – not very professional. The food was good, but I couldn't order dessert because I couldn't get anyone's attention to clear the plates and request a dessert menu.
Quite simply the best pub food I've ever had. Incredibly steak pie and awesome fish and chips. The staff are amazing and so courteous and efficient. Great value for money and a lovely atmosphere in what must be one the oldest pubs in the UK. Everybody should try this pub you won't be disappointed. Well done to all of you.

Our party consisted of 5 adults and one toddler. We did not have a reservation, so we dined in the bar area, but our order arrived promptly. All of us enjoyed the food and the service provided by the kind lady in charge. We will definitely return and make a reservation next time. Give it a shot! Thank you.
Stayed in the Hayloft, what a wonderful find! Upside down 'flat ' with a lovely lounge upstairs, so adaptable. Well appointed and the ease of breakfast was brilliant. Jan and her staff were so accommodating, and meal times to suit our needs. P.S. the breakfast was fantastic in all respects.
We popped in for a quick drink and lite meal this evening. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. We sat out on the patio since the weather was so nice and had a great evening. We hadn’t been to this pub for years but are so glad we’ve rediscovered it. We will be back.
This was a good restaurant, which was busy on Good Friday, there was a bit of a delay between Mains and Desert, however I observed other tables waiting for long periods before orders where taken, we had two course in 1 3/4 Hours, the sausage and mash was a really nice dish.

Our server was delightful, attentive, helpful and informative. She recommended the Special seafood chowder. Very tasty and a good portion at £13.50. Sadly I didn’t take any pictures! The general decor is looking a big tired but the food and service are great!
I stopped by for our usual two post-snooker pints and really enjoyed the two pints of guest cask beer. The service was friendly and great.
