Have been going to Windy Point for many years and have come back from overseas to dine yet again. Not sure really but the refinements have deminished somewhat. Chef specials on a separate piece of paper without explanation of what they were. Another piece of paper showing cheeses etc placed on the table again without explanation. The meals themselves were up to usual standard until there was an unpleasant find in the lamb dish. No reparations during or upon final payment after mentioning the issue yet again. All we were asked, "apart from that, was everything else alright?" Stunned at this response. We had international guests dining with us and they too showed concern at the lack of respons...
We have been here several times for special occasions and have always enjoyed the experience. However, I have to agree that on our last visit all was not perfect.I, too, was surprised that the sorbet is no longer included and disappointed at the limited dessert selection e.g. If your partner doesn't like chocolate you have to miss out too. On leaving I felt uncomfortable being asked (in front of other customers) if I'd like to like to include a tip for our waitress. Nevertheless we still love this place for its comfortable ambience, faultless service and beautiful views. Food was delicious although my serve of snapper was half the size of my husband's kangaroo.
We have been coming to Windy point for over 15 years. Tonight we found the standards slipping. Service was lovely but felt rushed. Menu was nice but there was not a lot of choice for dessert. And what has happened to the sorbet between courses? Looks like we need to pay for that treat now.The kangaroo was devine as were other courses, but when our guests found bone in their lamb, nearly cracking a tooth as they bit in to it, the enjoyment of the food was tainted.To top it off there were apologies but no discount for this error in food preparation. Thanks Windy for a lovely 15 years, but I think we will be moving on now.
After thinking we were in for a great dinner - the views are outstanding, and the restaurant was humming - the meal was disappointing.Bread to start was excellent. But downhill from there.Snapper was overcooked - almost dry. Veges very undercooked. I don't mind crisp, but the greens were so underdone they were tough.Dessert - apple in filo pastry - again the pastry so overcooked it almost broke your teeth trying to get to the apple.All simple things that a good restaurant should never had an issue with. Treated family. Didn't disappoint. Lovely views. Excellent attentive service. Delightful young lady serving us. All meals wonderful, although we did find the rhubarb soup a puzzle for pudding. (Very liquid but good taste ) look forward to next visit.
We went last NYE and the view, food and service were excellent, even if we paid a premium for it being NYE. I'd recommend it and we'd go again; it's unique and nothing else can compete with the location on such a special night.
