follow the signs from the water rim to this restaurant. it looks pretty small from outside, but there are tables outside and in the garden. menu is in german and the server (which would be fair to say are not in the first flush of...youth) talk no English, but we could still communicate. we ordered two carvings with fries and two small bottled mineral water. we had about a 20-minute waiting time while we saw that several, obviously local, people came in and gather takeaways. when the food arrived, it was freshly cooked, delicious and generously cut. the total costs for two were just under 15 euro, which seemed very reasonable.

while Ashach is a village for cyclists along the donau, this place is really for locals.
