After reading such great reviews we were excited to eat at the hotel. We normally never do so and always find good place outside. We got to the restaurant all the tables and booths were covered in crumbs and sticky surfaces. We told the server and she did a brief wipe down . We found a booth to sit on - then we got a brand new server who did not introduce herself but seemed in a hurry to get away. We had to continuously get up to ask her for drinks, food, menu anything to get her back. We got spaghetti meat sauce for my son but it was room temperature as was my seafood chowder that got me violently sick after!! The Wooden Door Bistro is located in the Quality Inn across the highway from the airport. From the airport cross the highway overpass like going to Halifax. Don't turn at the onramp but continue to the Quality Inn via the air plane museum. Plenty of free parking at the hotel. Did not notice signs until inside the hotel. Seating is inside or outside overlooking an outdoor pool. The menu is a great mix of the typical NS seafood favourites, burgers, paste, and salads. So you are hungry after waiting for your luggage, and spending an unnecessary 20 minutes in the line at Budget Rent-a-Car, and want to eat before driving into Halifax or starting your tour? Try the Wooden Door.We googled "Places to eat near the airport" and this place popped up. Its only a few minutes out when you get your car, located in the Comfort Inn hotel. The outside of the hotel is not that impressive, but the bistro is very good. Service is friendly. Our bowls of seafood chowder were too large to finish, and we were on our way quickly.Worth a stop.
We very much enjoyed the foods and service at the Wooden Door as we arrived late and the restaurant was still serving from off the menu. We relaxed with a drink before our meal came, enjoyed our foods very much and our service was very friendly. Breakfast and our evening meal were very satisfactory and the hospitality was very good as we waited out our time for our late flight out. The staff was very helpful with extra requests. Highly recommended.
We ate there a couple of times this year in our overnight stay at the hotel. Service was excellent both times but found the food was better the second time around. Could have been just the time of day and they had some stuff sitting there from the lunch as my beef dip appeared to be burnt. Had the fish and chip second time and almost couldn't finish the meal due to the amount of food. Prices weren't bad either.
Overnighting at the airport, we needed a late lunch, and also dinner. Very surprised and delighted, the quality of the food and service were outstanding and such good value for money.
We had supper here, shared the sea food platter. Very tasty and good service. The continental breakfast was here in the mornings, and they had a good selection.
A group of us went for dinner after a day of sightseeing Peggy's Cove and other areas in Nova ScotiaAmbiance is nice, and staff is very friendly.
I was hoping they'd be serving both their brunch and lunch menus on a Sunday after noon, but they were only serving lunch.
