I could have stayed home and worked less than I did to have dinner at Woodpile. We have ordered takeout from this restaurant and the one in Clawson several times and the food is always excellent. The ribs are amazing, as well as the Mac and cheese. However, when we decided to dine in recently, the experience was not great. The food was delicious, but it was clear that they were very understaffed. We arrived around 5:00 on a Saturday and while the place wasn't very busy, the staff seemed overwhelmed. I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! It was my first time here and I was impressed by the delicious BBQ. The staff was friendly and very attentive. They had a great selection of drinks and drafts. The food was exceptional. We tried the Corktown Taters, the two plate meal (with brisket, burnt ends, collard greens, and Mac and cheese), and the pulled pork sandwich. The chili on the Corktown Taters was especially delicious. All of the meat was very tender, even the burnt ends which can be chewy at other places. I didn 't know there was a new rule stating that they cannot let me sit at the bar and have a beer while I wait for a takeout order. The bartender let me know with a flat out No. I don 't have time to bartend and take a takeout order. Go to the window like you are supposed to They seemed so annoyed that I was there, and was a customer. The place wasn 't even very busy at all. Maybe a 5 or 8 customers today, Sunday afternoon, at 3 PM. What is it like when you are busy these days? Then the order sat in the window as I waited. I visited this restaurant for the first time a little over a week ago and was impressed with my Cuban sandwich. Tonight, while deciding on my order, I read some reviews that concerned me. With a background in the restaurant industry, I paid extra attention to my takeout experience. I am pleased to say that everything went smoothly - my order was ready on time and the food was warm, well-packaged, and delicious. The portions were generous, especially the Corktown Fries, which could easily serve two people. I am happy to have finally tried this place and it will definitely be on my list of go-to restaurants from now on.

The barbecue at this restaurant is delicious. The pulled pork sandwich is tender, moist, and tasty, and the waffle fries are crispy. The lunch special is a great deal at $10 for meat, one side, and a drink. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating. Parking is limited, but there is extra parking available on the street. The patio will be a nice addition in the summer. Overall, give this place a try - you won't be disappointed.
This is my second time visiting this restaurant, and I had a very good experience! We ordered the two meat combo with two sides. My favorite was the pulled pork, although I wasn't a big fan of the ribs and found the brisket to be just okay. The service was always friendly, the sauces were delicious, and overall, I have nothing negative to say except that parking can be difficult at times. We will definitely return when we are in the area.
The food was cold and bland. The second we ordered and sat down the food was already at the table. We got the BBQ Mac and the Rib Combo, it was disappointing! The cornbread tasted like yellow cake and it lacked corn meal. There were multiple workers walking out of the restaurant and the ribs were way too tough. I remember coming here 2 years ago and it was good, but not now.
I can't say enough good things about Woodpile. They roll out the smoker and cater our company picnic every summer and always leave our bellies full and satisfied. Great food and service isn't always easy to come by but Woodpile puts in the effort to ensure they're the perfect meaty compliment to every event.

Woodpile BBQ catered a company picnic for my employer and did an awesome job!They arrived on time, extra care was taken to ensure sanitary conditions and the food was hot, plentiful and DELICIOUS!!A great time was had by all largely due to the fabulous food, thanks Woodpile BBQ!!
