November 2017 update <br/ <br/ This is now my go to fish and chip shop. Chicken salted chips are now an option when ordering chips. Portions are still generous, the staff are all absolutely lovely and the food is still at a superb price. Wait times can be a bit long, but that just means that you are getting the absolute freshest they can offer. It really does not get any better than this.<br/ <br/ $3.50 for minimum chips but wow! They certainly give you your fair share here. I had nonchalantly ordered $5 chips during my first visit here, and it was more than enough to feed four mouths. I was craving some fish and chips so I phoned my order through and was told an approx time of 10-15 minutes waiting time while they prepared my order.I arrived and was warmly greeted by the staff as was everyone else who entered the shop. I waited just a minute or two then I paid and brought my freshly cooked order home in carefully wrapped printed Newspaper. Loved the paper, a great look and no ink stained fingers.I really enjoyed eating my flake, potato cake and 1 dim sim and there wasn't a crumb left on my paper. I thoroughly recommend Yarra Ave Fish

I was recently recommended this restaurant by a coworker and I have to say, the burgers and chips are awesome! It's a great spot for takeout with very clean and tidy surroundings. The staff are friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The portion sizes are generous too - the small chips could easily feed three people. The only downside is that in winter, the shop can get a little cold while waiting for your order.

Visited for the first time today for a quick weekday lunch and very impressed! Food stayed very warm until we were home 10 minutes later. Loved the traditional newspaper print packaging.Not too oily, not too salty, very generous portions. Will be back! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

This is the best fish and chips shop in the area! I highly recommend this place, even though the wait can be a bit long. The chips are delicious and you can't go wrong with a $1 serving of golden fried goodness. The corn fritters are also fantastic.

must be new owners, the prices have risen. the current photos of the menu do not reflect the new price increase. I wish it was reflected in quality and taste.
