Ye Olde Cottage Inn on Brook street is one of the best pub's we visited on our two day trip to Chester. This superb pub offers a fantastic range of beers and many assorted pub games such as bagatelle and darts. The pub has a traditional and superb look, with two rooms, a unique island style bar, classic pub decor and furnishings, and plenty of seating options throughout. Despite it being a cold Tuesday night, the pub was bustling with patrons. I always look forward to visiting Ye Olde Cottage Inn whenever I am in Chester. This pub serves delicious real ales in a cool atmosphere. The interior is traditional and the decor is excellent, with a stylish bar and plenty of seating options. When we visited on a Saturday night, the pub was busy with a fantastic atmosphere. We enjoyed studying the selection of real ales and decided on a Weetwood Brewery pale ale and a Wynchwood Brewery hobgoblin pale ale, both served in great condition. During my visit with my twin brother Stephen on a Wednesday evening, we were warmly greeted by a friendly staff member. After browsing their selection of real ales, we both opted for the Weetwood Brewery pale ale, which was served in excellent condition. We were fortunate enough to find a table and enjoyed our drinks while soaking in the atmosphere of the pub.
The pale ale was delicious, with a full body, well-balanced flavor, and a strong hoppy kick. It was very easy to drink and a style of real ale that we both enjoy. A very nice old fashioned looking pub a few minutes walk from the city’s main railway station. The sign portrays the Cottage, as do reproductions of a sign on the walls within. Beer mats adorn the beams and service was very cheery. There are many beer and pub related magazines from round the country for reading (some marked as reference only and not to be taken out). They make interesting browsing. There are reproductions of another pub sign inside the pub to compliment the one outside.
Love this place. Proper old fashioned town pub serving really good beer (Including several cask ales). Bar games include Darts, Pool, and even bagatelle. Pub has a lovely friendly cat who wanderers round and likes a stroke. Good selection of music on the Jukebox. Nice friendly pub, highly recommended.
A bunch of strangers took our reserved table. The place stunk of sweat and body odour, reeked of tobacco and there was no breathing room for anyone. One of the most claustrophobic places I have been in my entire life. I would never go back.
Nice little friendly pub. Anyone who says that they don't like strangers is wrong. We got our ears talked off. Beers good. Coconuts for ashtrays out the back, should you need to play horse.

Proper pub with proper beer and a propper fire. Add friendly staff and what more could you want? Well worth the visit. We will be back.
