Knowing we’d be in Coniston on New Year’s Day (2 adults and 2 children) I booked online at the Yewdale in early Dec to make sure we secured a table, anticipating it might be busy. On arrival we were met by a pleasant waiter who showed us to our reserved table in the mostly empty pub. We were slightly disappointed, having booked a table, to be in the bar area next to a big group of young men who were swearing quite a bit and acting generally laddish. After a long day of walking, we wanted to grab a bite to eat before leaving. We had our dog with us, so it can be tricky to find a pet-friendly place. However, we were pleasantly surprised with a warm welcome and even a meat treat for our furry friend. We were told to sit wherever we felt comfortable and ordered drinks, roast beef, and fish and chips. The food was well cooked and the portion sizes were generous for the price. Definitely worth a try!
We popped into this dog friendly pub for lunch, mid week. The bar/waitress staff were very friendly and welcoming and clearly dog lovers which was nice to see. The decor and layout is quite plush and it’s a pleasant environment to dine in. Cheese and onion sandwiches were first class and the sparkling mineral water was refreshing as it was S.Pellegrino.
We decided to stop by for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and they even welcomed our dog, Darcy. I ordered the lamb and my wife had the pork, both served with hot vegetables, gravy, and a large Yorkshire pudding. Overall, we thought it was great value. Well done to the staff at the restaurant!

Came here for the fire to warm my sore legs after walking The Old Man. Stayed for the cider, food and great service. Had the home made pie on day one, day two was a lamb roast. Really nice to have a pub serving roasts into the evening. Walkers dogs and kid friendly.
The restaurant offers generous portions of food, has an outdoor eating area, hosts quiz nights, serves great beer, and has a good atmosphere. The surroundings are nice and you feel welcome as soon as you walk in.
Ate here both nights of our recent short stay in Coniston. Friendly staff. Good menu. Food was all lovely. Service quick. Able to reserve tables. Welcoming pub.
Lovely food well accommodated in a cosy setting, also had Sunday dinner which was nice. Staff are really welcoming looking after all our needs.
