I'd consider returning if they lowered the music volume and offered a more diverse playlist, instead of what felt like a repetitive mix of hip hop and R&B from 10 to 15 years ago.

I've always been a fan of shisha, but many places in Calgary tend to feel cramped and poorly ventilated. That is definitely not the case at Zaafran. The atmosphere is very clean and the relaxing decor makes it feel open rather than suffocating with smoke. I really appreciate their spacious seating layout. As for the hookah, it's very well crafted and smooth to smoke. My favorite dish has to be the tandoori chicken burger—I've ordered it every time I've visited Zaafran!
