I 'll start with the good (sorta): the food was ok; ordered a Cubano sandwich, empanada, breaded chicken with black beans/rice and corn. Flavor on the sandwich was ok, empanada was tasty, breaded chicken was ok flavor wise. Beans and rice were fine, nothing amazing.Here 's the not so great:The corn was definitely non salted out of a can, no seasoning whatsoever. No salt, nothing. Room temperature.Breaded chicken was a little on the chewier side.When ordering an appetizer empanada, it is just one single empanada. I believe the menu said Beef Empanadas plural, but it is just one which is fine if they would just correct the menu.The Cuban was crazy light on the pickle, like maybe two small pick...
Just ok. Won't be back. Was disappointed based on the ratings, I wanted to love this place but it fell short. Agree with others, first time there feels like someone should be sitting you but you have to order AND pickup from the front table. The food was a good portion but fell short on flavor. My husband didn't eat his fish at all, my son said the steak was meh and the pork chops were just ok. Same with rice and beans. We are not hard to please but this is our 1st and last time. Maybe it was an off day.
The food here is amazing! Zarza is one of my favorite dining spots in Lakeland, and the fact that it’s a locally owned family business makes it even more special. I moved to Winter Haven from Lakeland a couple of years ago, yet I still make the 30+ minute drive just to enjoy a meal at Zarza. My go-to order is the half chicken, rice, beans, and plantains. All of their sauces are delicious too. Definitely a 5-star experience!
1st time tonight, the staff (girl who took the order) very nice and friendly. I don’t recall eating Peruvian before but the food was decent. A little different than what I am used to but definitely a nice place to visit and support. It was our first time visiting this restaurant, and it took us a moment to understand that we needed to go up to the counter to place our order before finding a seat. I ordered the ceviche, and it was absolutely wonderful! I'm a big fan of cilantro, but it wasn't overwhelming in this dish. My husband had a surf and turf option with steak and scallops, served with yucca, and he really enjoyed it too!
The food was OK. Nothing special. We had the 1/2 chicken family meal. The meats were not seasoned, the fries that were under the meat were soggy. Rotisserie chicken is always good but I expected spanish seasoning. No seasoning on the pork or chicken that is included with the family meal.My expectations were that I would get spanish seasoned food and it was not. This is the reason for only two stars.
I can cook much better than what I got from here. First time ordering carry out and it was a beef lomo saltado, did not realize it did not come with rice and fries unless I asked for them. The chicken was okay but the lomo is what I drove 30 mins to get. Unfortunately, will not be eating here again. Food was not authentic peruvian and a waste of money.
I came to Zarza with a group of friends to try something new in Lakeland. All I can say is that this place is amazing and the food is so delicious! I absolutely LOVE this place! I dine here at least 2 to 3 times a week. Their rotisserie chicken and garlic potatoes are amazing! The desserts are incredibly tasty—especially the Nutella tres leches and flan, both of which I would rate a perfect 10 out of 10. Food: 5/5.
