"While travelling long distance, for lunch we always take our chances in the small villages off the highway. In some areas this seems to be a bit tricky on Sundays - it was not far from Vienne, and all the places we came across were either closed or full, and finally we ended up in Vienne itself, at L'Endroit. It's a place which considers itself traditional French, but the menu reveals a distinct international, especially American influence.The place was packed with locals (later we realized that all the TA reviews so far had been in French - foreigners don't seem to venture up to the periphery of the old city). With a bit of luck the friendly manager found a table for the two of us, and we opted for burgers, "Summer" and "L'Endroit". More than half an hour later they arrived at our table (so much about burgers as the paradigm of fast food), and it was certainly not the elaborate work that had gone into them - it was burgerness as usual.The patty was good, mostly made from sheer meat (in contrast to the infamous M and other chains where the cattle is minced in toto, except horns, hooves, and teeth) but lacking salt or other spices. Condiments and sauce were ok but nothing outstanding, and the buns were quite dry. The French fries were already a bit soft; maybe they had to wait for some of the half hour. With that came big bottles of ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, and a green salad whose dressing also tasted remarkably heinzy.For these we were charged 16,00 and 17,50 Euros respectively, which is at the upper end even for real gourmet burgers. Too much? You bet."
