Afghan Chopan Bakery & Diner

Not many Afghan restaurants in Vancouver so when friend told me there was one in Richmond, I had to go there. 6 of us went for lunch in their restaurant in the Richmond Public Market. Seems owners also have a smaller take out place in another location. We ordered the family platter, dough drink, and the ferny for dessert. The food potions were substantial and was so good we ate every morsel. The ferny, a milk pudding, was to die for. The dough, a yoghurt with cucumber drink, was very refreshing and should go well with the qabuli and grilled meat platters, but it was made so salty we had to dilute it with the ice water on the table to make it more palatable. Read the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. I was the first customer when it opened at noon. Since I wanted to try, I ordered the lunch specials, one roasted chicken, one lamp and one beef tenderloin on the a la carte menu and extra naan for take out. It took me more than 30 minutes to wait and there were just 3 customers after I came in. The meats all looked burned and very dark color, but the taste is quite good. The naan was very disappointing. Very dry so I hardly ate it. Probably it was because there's only one staff working. I will try again but go to the other branch and eat there instead of taking away.

This is a take-out kebab joint (there's one table in the front) in a strip mall on No. 3 Rd, the main drag, just across the street from Richmond Mall. However, don't let the looks deceive you. They quickly take and produce your order and the food is succulent, gently and exotically spiced, and inexpensive. It seems to be authentic family cooking. I've done take out there many times over the years and not been disappointed. They serve variously spiced grilled meats (beef, chicken, lamb) usually plain, but there are some dishes with sauces, rice dishes and flat breads.

It's my third time coming to this little restaurant. I have to say it is worth my time and penny to have lunch or dinner here. The chicken combo is fantastic, also for the lamb lovers; you will love this place. My favorite is the side dish "beef korma" with the soft tasty breads they offer. The food at this restaurant is excellent for the price. Their chutney is the best I've ever tasted. I recently ordered the lamb and it was cooked perfectly - tender and flavorful. The service was outstanding, my sister even wants to make the Afghan lady her maid of honor because she was so gentle and humble. I can't blame her.

The food here is good and flavourful with large portions; very inexpensive. However, this restaurant really caters only to take-out. The two small tables inside are covered in a brown vinyl and there is absolutely no atmosphere. Also, if it is hot outside, there is no air conditioning or fan to make it comfortable to sit in.

The food is delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The food,however, very spicy. So if you don't like a lot of spices, this restaurant is not for you. This branch, moreover, is very small, but generally it is good restaurant.

Very delicious menu and flavours. They are authentic and offer large portions. Their Qabuli rice dinner, chicken boneless tikka are very delicious. They are 100% Halal and have good ambiance. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
