The shrimp was completely unseasoned, appearing as if it was just thawed and placed on top of plain pasta, floating in a broth-like sauce. I was served half of a small lobster, which was also bland and lacked seasoning. Honestly, it didn't resemble any pasta dish I would consider authentic.
The only redeeming part of the meal was the dessert — the cheesecake, coffee, and biscotti were enjoyable. We ended up spending around $500, and considering that we were among the few customers there that night, the staff's attitude was disappointing. Wow ! Was invited to a party in the wine room at Franina. The food was exceptional. Service was top-notch. This is an old-school italian restaurant that definitely knows what they are doing. We started with a delcious plate of fresh Mozzarella and Melon and prosciutto, then we had rigatoni wirh sauce. The pasta dish was so simple but yet so delicious. The pasta was cooked Al dente, and the sauce was amazing. I went with the Veal Chop wirh Peppers. Wow, I'm glad I did! The veal was cooked perfectly , and I highly suggest this dish. This is my 2nd time at Franina and this is one of the best Italian restaurants on Long Island or anywhere for that matter. Food is not only good but memorable. The linguini was perfectly cooked. I also had the rabbit and venison special which was both great. Venison is tough to cook but they made it taste like good steak. Rabbit was falling off the bone. My son has another pasta that was amazing. We were also impressed with the very professional service. This one is a gem.

I visited the restaurant on Friday night to celebrate a birthday. The food was good, but not exceptional. The appetizer we wanted was unavailable, and we also brought a cake but were charged six dollars per person for plating it, which we thought was unreasonable. The service was lackluster, especially since the restaurant was only half full. Unfortunately, we will not be returning anytime soon.
This my number one restaurant for dining.Here food is fresh and expertly prepared. Staff is attentive and the owner is always on site.. If you haven't been to Franina, do not hesitate to make it your very next restaurant adventure!
By far the best restaurant on Long Island. Great service and terrific food. You have to save room for dessert !! Terrific.
