Words cannot adequately convey just how delicious everything is at this luncheonette. I've been a customer for over 20 years; when I started my first event planning business, Alex provided catering for all our events, big and small, across NYC. As my business grew, I consistently recommended their services because they never disappoint. Their food is always excellent. Big things truly come in small packages, and Alex's Luncheonette is a perfect example of that. It's a cozy spot serving up big, flavorful dishes. I recently visited again and was touched when the servers remembered my name—plus, the service was top-notch!
Wow! I've been living in the neighborhood for a year and a half, and I can’t believe I haven't visited this place until now because I hardly ever have cash. When I walked in today, I discovered they accept credit cards! The staff was incredibly kind, caring, and welcoming—just what I could have hoped for. They even encouraged me to practice my Spanish with them, which was so sweet. When I got home, I tried the food, and it was absolutely delicious. It felt like I was visiting my grandmother’s house in the Dominican Republic. I can’t wait to go back, but living this close could be dangerous for my appetite!
Waited on line for 10 minutes and when it was my time to order the woman started asking the man standing behind me in line what he wanted to order. She did not look at me or ask my order even though I was clearly ahead of him. Totally ignored me when I tried to order and just served him instead. Not sure why. it was rude and uncomfortable and I left without ordering. Terrible way to treat customers.
In 2023, it’s hard to understand why a restaurant that aims to serve the public for profit wouldn’t have any English-speaking staff to assist customers. The establishment only employs Spanish-speaking employees, which makes it difficult for English-speaking customers to place their orders. Overall, I would rate the food 2 out of 5. I’ve been ordering from this place for years and I’ve always been satisfied, but today the service was so bad and I spent 57 dollars on what? 3 meals? And ???why are they charging so much for a lot of rice and very little meat. The yucca was mushed up like mash potatoes.smh
The food here is amazing,don't order thru uber eats as their prices are almost double,better in person cheap and good.Vegetarian options: They have vegetables available like eggplants and your broccoli and carrots
