Both my husband and I ordered the Chicken Yolanda, which is served with pasta. I specifically asked for linguine, and despite requesting that it be cooked thoroughly, it arrived al dente—too firm for my taste and difficult for me to digest. After finishing our main courses, we realized we never received the salad included with our meals. We had to ask for it, and it was served after we had already eaten.
When the bill came, I noticed a charge of $3.95 for seltzer water. I was taken aback since many restaurants do not charge for it. By the time you factor in tax and tip, that’s essentially $5 for sparkling water.

Last Friday, July 26th, my wife and I stopped by for a bite to eat during the car show. We were seated at a high-top table in the bar area, and unfortunately, the service was disappointing. I ordered a glass of wine, which arrived, but it was only about 3 ounces, if that. I also ordered a pizza that took around 25 minutes to arrive. After inquiring about our food, the waitress brought out what seemed to be food that had been sitting on the counter for a while, as it was warm, not hot. I wasn’t a big fan, we chose to sit outside, we weren’t given any bread until after we ordered our food about 20 minutes in, there were no salt&pepper or anything on the table, my friend dropped her fork, they never replaced it. I was brought the pescatore linguine, and no bowls to put the shells until I had ask 5 minutes into eating it. The 2 waiters looked annoyed the whole time, but I barely said nothing except “can I get salt&pepper and a bowl”, their faces made it look like I was making them suffer. Overall, probably wouldn’t come back.
Always have a good experience at Alfonso's. Another place that used to be decent that is now awful! Ordered takeout last night. Two slices of pepperoni pizza and bowl of pasta fagioli. Charged me $5.00 extra for the plastic container that was not even full of the soup! Total of $12 for this garbage. Pizza was burnt and the pepperoni was just placed on top of the slices and not cooked within. Called to complain and the guy seemed to care less. Will never return!!
I had my first experience at this charming local restaurant, and it was absolutely fantastic. We began our meal with some perfectly crispy calamari and tasty mini rice balls. For the kids, we ordered a cheese pizza, and they almost finished the whole thing! My wife and I shared a generous platter of linguine and clams, and yes, we finished it all. Our server, Mike, was exceptional. I definitely plan to return!
Great Italian Food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Excellent beer list, even on tap! One of our top favorites in downtown Somerville. Your can’t go wrong with the Italian dishes or their excellent pizza. Fair prices and nice sized portions for leftovers! Yum ?
Walked in and ordered 2 large pies that were ready in 15 minutes. Not only were they prepared promptly, but they were delicious.
