My father and stepmother were coming to town overnight, and as always with my family, a good meal with good wine are of great importance! As we stepped into Amandala's Restaurant we were immediately greeted by a woman with genuine warmth; such a sunny smile! The restaurant is pleasant: two simply laid out rooms, with balcony seating available. Service was prompt and friendly - we also quickly discovered that the woman who met us at the door, and who was taking our drinks order, is the owner of Amandala's. Amandala's is a great restaurant. I was there after my Graduation with me family, 9 people in total. We made a reservation, but misjudged how many people would be there, and both the waiter and owner were quick to make accommodations and we managed to fit the extra person. The waiter was nothing but polite, and very personable. The food was delicious, I had a lemon cream sauce pasta with a salmon fillet on top, and Oh My Gosh it was fantastic! The price was right, although the grilled salmon meal was not a very large portion, and neither was the pizza. But it was delicious, and I would still recommend. Went with my mother and two kids age 5 and 8 for a special birthday dinner. We started with gorgonzola fondue with scallops shrimp pear pecans and crustini. The girls had Caesar salad. Both were amazing. Our waitress made the little girls special fancy drinks. They dont have a children's menu but made the girls amazing spaghetti and meatballs. Friends recommended Amandala's in downtown Peterborogh. We arrived for a late lunch and we both ordered the soup of the day, a peameal, asparagus, chowder. It was magnificent. I believe there is a different daily soup because our friends had the mushroom soup and said that it was excellent. I had the peameal on a bun which had generous slices. My wife ordered the smoked salmon on a bun with avocado and cucumber. Both plates included an arugula house salad with strawberries, raspberries and a vinaigrette dressing. Simply put "This place rocks"!!!! By far the best dining experience I have ever had in Peterborough, close to the Best I have had in 15 years. From the owner Amanda to the chef Simon and all of the staff - Allison, Chris and even Charlie the service, attitude and overall attention to detail is incredible. They literally went out of their way to make our evening one to never forget. I have eaten all over the world and this place rivals anything in Toronto, New York and Europe. Quaint, eclectic and youthful - in a good way - you have to eat here. FYI the chef loves a challenge.
Staff: accommodating, charming and very knowledgeable. Ambience: quiet, even though the place was full, cosy and warm.Food: this is really my kind of food. The duck soup was rich in flavour but not heavy in my stomach. A perfect balance of flavour and texture. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a light, slightly sweet sauce. A very nice balance of flavours.The vegetables at this time of year should be delicious, fresh, crisp and flavourful... and Amandal served up exactly that.If I had to pick only one place to go, it would be Amandala.
12 people for lunch. Service a bit slow but very good. Fairly good selection on the menu. I was not thrilled with the dressing on the salad but overall people enjoyed the meal. Prices are quite reasonable and the staff was very helpful. They even provided wi fi password so an out of town family member could skype in to lunch and say hello.The only complaint I would have is that they do not have a high chair. The booster seat was not secure enough for a busy little girl.
We recently moved to the East Coast and are visiting Peterborough for the first time in 30 years. We heard about Amanadala's and the recommendation was well deserved. The food is creative and amazing in freshness, presentation and flavor. The fondue and chartuccier were our choice but the other dishes passing by were equally amazing. A cozy little place with friendly service. However food not up to expectations. It was ok for the price. All dishes oversalted. Arugula & mint salad was overdressed & wilted. Veal parma only acceptable. Best part was the warm toasty delicious bread & well priced wine by glass.Desserts better.
