Angélus - Tisch reservieren

I come from Clamecy where "L'Angelus" (The Angelus) is but discovered it only two or three years ago through a friend's invitation. I will highly recommend it, and not because it is in my hometown and I am partial, but because food there is truly tasty. If it was serving bad food, I would just not review it. Their menus start at €19 for lunch and include a 3 course meal or €26 if you choose the Burgundian dishes menu. You will have 3 or 4 options per course, which is really nice. The owner/chef has an excellent "Oeufs en meurette" (poached eggs in a red wine sauce: don't even think of driving through Burgundy and not taste that very Burgundian tasty dish!), excellent beef (our Nièvre departm...

Dinner was at L’Angelus and it was absolutely delicious. Three of us had the andouilette tart with mustard cream, charolais braised in red wine, cheese (camembert, brillat savarin, chevre) and dessert (chocolate mousse, crème brulee and ice cream). We also ordered a Montrachet wine in honor of our boat and our other friend had a shrimp salad, a wonderful lamb, cheese and ice cream. At the table next to us, they were confused by the cheese order because they offered “fromage ou fromage blanc”. They thought they offered fromage “blanc ou bleu), and had not encountered fromage blanc before.

Found this restaurant by chance on a sunny Tuesday evening, having intended to go to the pizzeria next door and found it closed. Enjoyed a beautifully cooked and presented meal sitting outside. An undrinkable glass of rose was quickly replaced. Set menus at 22.50 and 37 euros. Lovely fish dish of monkfish slices on a tomato and chorizo; good creme brûlée and delicious apple tart desserts. Very willing service from a young waiter, although madame was somewhat cheerless. On the whole, our best meal this trip.

My wife had lunch at L'Angelus venturing up from our rented canal boat. We both chose from the prefixed menu choosing the tomato soup and the chicken curry. The chicken came with small portions of spinach/green beans, potato, and squash. The curry was lite and delicate. We also shared a bottle of rose and a single portion of cream brûlée. We walked up from our canal boat looking for lunch. On approaching the church we found this little restaurant located in an old French building. We found the service friendly and the food very tasty and nicely presented. They happily provided a vegetarian option for my daughter which, though it was only a plate of vegetables, was well flavoured and presented.

We always have at least one meal here when we're in Clamecy. Traditional French dishes executed well (and freshly prepared as far as we can tell). Lovely sitting outside in the plaza next to the cathedral with a glass of wine and a leisurely meal.

On the canal and this was recommended. From morsels at the beginning to end this was fantastic. Gazpacho was just sensational. Service was excellent and helpful and setting sun next to church was great.

We enjoyed the lunch provided with an tasty salad and dessert of sherbet ice cream. The service was a bit slow and rather indifferent, but we enjoyed the location and the meal.

Beautiful terrace in the centre of town, next to the cathedral. Very good menu with a a choice of delicious dishes and outstanding desert.
