To anyone visiting beautiful Riquewihr for the first time, it's worth knowing which are the touristic and which are the classic Alsatian restaurants. Au Dolder is very much in the latter category (also see Le Tire Bouchon, La Grappe D'Or, Brendelstub). Welcoming professional staff and all the classic Alsatian dishes cooked to a high level, with one or two others so there is something for everyone. Portions are substantial and even for three adults two dishes is enough. Good selection of local wines, fairly priced.
We did not book a table and turned up but were warmly greeted and shown to our table. I had the quich Lorraine - best I have ever had, my wife had the onion tart...also very tasty. For mains I had the steak with garlic butter...niccccce! And my wife had the chicken in a casarole dish...again lovely. I would recommend.
Based on hotel's recommendations tried this place for lunch- pretty good, but not exceptional. Then since we couldn't get reservations in another place we went back for dinner. Not as good as lunch. But was ok. Staff was nice, but this place is on the main drag and has a lot of traffic in and out
Tonight was a little cooler in Riquewhir than last night so we looked for a cosy restaurant! The food here was exceptional! I had the trout which was delicious and laden with vegetables too. My husband had chicken which came in a beautiful casserole dish. The service was excellent also!

We had lunch at Au Dolder and we were impressed by the fairy tale house that hosts the restaurant. The traditional tarte flambee and the onion soup were our choices for lunch. We had lunch on the terrace overlooking the dreamy streets of Riquewihr. Good choice for a sunny lunch.
We were seated without a reservation, had terrific trout and steak, but the profiteroles for dessert were out of this world! I'm surprised this restaurant doesn't rank higher in the TA rankings.
Nice regional Alsatian Food - excellent Quality and very enjoyable place. Very friendly associates. Can very much recommend this nice place. Don't miss it
