Spent a lovely evening with friends here, even though it was my treat! It is a special occasion treat as it is very expensive. For four the bill came to Euro 255. However, we had a lot for this money. We all had Coctail Maison and set Menu Epicurien (Euro 35 each) and we could not resist the Foie Gras. We also had two bottles of rather nice wines. 1 Vire Clesse Emilian Gillet and 1 Givry 1er Cru Clos Jus 2009.All food arrived looking fabulous and tasting even better. I last reviewed this restaurant in Oct 2011 and gave it 4 stars. I now have no reservation in awwarding it 5 stars as, frankly, the food is better, the service could not be faulted and the ambiance in the courtyard on a warm evening was very pleasant. It is an upmarket more formal restaurant so think special occassion rather than day to day restaurant with the children in tow. However at euros 29 for a 3 course meal it is affordable. Probably no star quality, but most certainly a high-quality cuisine with an eye for innovation. Also plenty of choice in three menus ranging from € 29 = 3 courses (€ 35 with foie gras), € 40 = 4 courses and a menu de degustation of € 59. The wine list is well organized and contains beautiful but also affordable wines, including half bottles. While the typical French cheese trolley absolutely must be preserved, could the a bit old-fashioned interior of the restaurant use a touch of modernization. On nice days you can sit outside and eat on an enclosed patio. The staff is very professional. The restaurant is highly recommendable.
Every time we are in the area we try to revisit this restaurant because it not only represents very good value for money, but it is also a family business where Monsieur is the chef and Madame takes the orders.The food is classically French and always uses seasonal produce, which is recognised by a range of awards and star ratings; the wine list has a good selection of local wines at a range of prices. The dining room is spacious and well presented and when the weather is fine the terrace is a perfect setting.In the summer holiday times sometimes vary so do check and reserve your table. Very good restaurant in a pretty town. What's nice is that this is a family-owned restaurant. The husband cooks, the wife presides over the dining room. The setting and service are a bit formal, but not overly so. The food is French, with some flair, tasty and nicely presented. The price for the food of this quality was extremely reasonable. Well-worth a visit
Nice French restaurant where you can enjoy a 5 course meal (starter, two mains, cheese, dessert) for just €49. Professional service, good food and a correct price. This restaurant is highly recommendable. No private parking.The coquilles and shrimp were especially nice. The meat main course was our least favourite course.Very good value for money!
Our selections were all very well prepared, though the atmosphere was a bit stuffy and the prices a bit steep for a small-town restaurant.
