This restaurant is famous of Matelote Riesling which is a meal to cook with different fish and trout in riesling sauce. Reservation for this meal is must. We were of four and had lunch there. The reception was not warm welcome at all but the...service was OK. We were served by a lady who I thought was the supervisor. The decoration was very traditional germen style and a bit outdated, but very clean. We had very good muscat as appero. I am not a fan of fish but found the Matelote Riesling was delicious and paired with local riesling. My friends took the tarte plume and said to be good. Every body was satisfied with the quality and portion, euro with wines, not bad. Will return in future.
We live nearby so have been able to visit this restaurant many times over many years, and the quality of food and service is excellent, while still being friendly and comfortable. My favourite dish is the trout with almonds, just watching Yves filet and bone...it at the table is a work of art. Order a green salad to go with it, the dressing is tangy and with lots of garlic. Steak with béarnaise sauce and frites is also a favourite. House wines are good and reasonable. For a more intimate dinner reserve a table in the small dining room at the front. The large dining room and washrooms have all been renovated recently and are of a high standard.
We ate at this restaurant twice and on both occasions the food was very good. On the first occasion we tried the pike perch (zander) for which this restaurant is famous and true to its reputation, the dish itself was tasty and the process of...deboning the fish before service was impressive. The sauce is a typical French brown butter sauce, so if that is not to your taste then this may not be the dish for you. On the second night we ordered the fish soup which, for us, trumped even the zander. It was absolutely delicious.
We went here on one night because of a recommendation to try the speciality of the house which is zander cooked in a butter and garlic sauce. It's a family restaurant and this dish has been on the menu for several generations. We've never had...zander but were not disappointed. The waiter filets the fish at the table for you which is a joy to watch and saves you the trouble. Because of his expertise here, you get a surprising amount of fish.

German style restaurant in the middle of somewhere where you have to stop and have whatever you want or a Zander fish. This is one of the best fish I ever had. So sweet and week prepared with a butter and herb sauce. You have...the privilege to have the chef slicing the whole prepared fish in front of view. It is a unique and unexpected experience !

This restaurant never disappoints and it was great to be able to come back here after years of travel restrictions (I don’t live in Europe). The food is always delicious and the service friendly and good. The filet de boeuf was cooked perfectly...as I’d ordered it. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of the meals.
Food is outstanding! The l'sandre is beautifully presented and delicious. The toasted breadcrumbs in oodles of butter on top are amazing. Everything there is fantastic. Wines moderately priced. Service is leisurely and attentive. Worth a visit. We take the ferry from Germany and make a...lovely day of it. Goooo
