Go. Now. It's worth the Wait!. Bottom line: you're not going to get into this place on a Friday or Saturday night. It's a tiny, tiny pub! But that should not deter you from trying. In fact, you should wait just to get a table so you can try the food! There's a reason the University students frequent this little gem and it's not because of the beer (Well, okay, maybe that's partly the reason). The French Onion soup is the best soup I've ever had. Hands down. Golden trophy to Backstreet for this wonderful soup! And the Jaimie sandwich.... I can't describe it adequately enough. It must be experienced to be appreciated. No deep fried, greasy, deep-fried standards most pubs have nowadays. And you...
ATTENTION STUDENTS. If you're at the UofL I'm sure you have already discovered backstreet if not go find it. I was a student in lethbridge for 5 years and many a drunken nights of laughs, pool and picking up woman were had there. Both locations in fact often turned into my go to watering hole. The food is awesome, the service if good and it's a very comfortable place for all alike. Everyone is welcomed and everyone is there.
Never been to lethbridge before, a friend pointed me to backstreet and we set out to find some grub and a cold one. Doesn't look like anything special inside or out, tried the signature infamous Jamie sandwich. I work in the culinary field, never had anything like this, so unique, so good! Best sandwich I've had in a long long time. Chilled mugs added the finishing touch. I would recommend trying it out.
Still has Character. This is a tough one to review, it is in need of updating, but I say that with mixed fillings. If they update they may lose the character of the this place. Backstreet West is just a good ole place to hang out and not worry about getting dressed up. Food is good pub food and service has never been bad to me. My rating is 7 mugs out of 10. Mostly hit, sometimes a miss. Ive gone here quite a few times now and the food is USUALLY good, but occasionally I'll order my usual which is a pizza and greek salad, while the pizza is always really good, the greek salad half the time is missing one of the four ingredients. cool atmosphere though
