It’s so easy to gravitate to the same spots over and over that are close to home, and become part of the normal routine for many of us here in NYC. Having friends who live in each suburb does offer the occasional opportunity to meander outside of the comfort zone and check out different food ethnicities to try out. We recently tried brunch at Bakhter Halal Kababs in Fresh Meadows, Queens. Getting there was a bit of a journey involving a subway ride and a short car trip, but it was worth it. Despite usually avoiding Queens due to its suburban feel and lack of subway access, we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and affordable prices at this restaurant. The menu at Bakhter Halal Kababs offers a variety of kababs and other dishes, all seasoned and spiced to perfection. Amazing and iconic. If you in the Muslim brown community and you didn't take a trip down to this place at least once in your lifetime are you really brown? With that being said though amazing and iconic food for cheap prices although they might've changed their prices in the past 2 years due to covid obviously, but nothing major that it will hurt your pockets. The only issue I have is that they serve amazing food, and service is nice and all but with the amount of money and support they get, they should really upgrade their place and make it look nicer and more modern. Bakhtar Halal Kabab is a popular restaurant known for its delicious Afghan dishes. The portions are generous and the food is always satisfying. Personally, I enjoy the lamb or chicken tika platter with qabuli, a flavorful basmati rice dish. The kababs are perfectly grilled to juicy perfection. And while some may prefer pita over their bread, the bread served at Bakhtar is still a hit with customers. Bakhtar Restaurant serves delicious Afghan dishes that draw a crowd. The food here is tasty and portions are generous. Personally, I recommend trying the lamb or chicken kebab plate with qabuli, a flavorful basmati rice dish. The kebabs are grilled to perfection. Some may prefer pita over bread, but why nitpick? Bread is served and customers can always ask for more during their meal. The white sauce at Bakhtar is also excellent, with patrons often seen enjoying their kebabs and sandwiches with it.
The dining atmosphere may not be the best and the restaurant appears a bit dreary, but the food is delicious and full of flavor, all at an affordable price.
This Kabab restaurant is my favorite. The food is expertly prepared, served piping hot, and always fresh and delicious.

Even with the nice grilled outside, the inside of the chicken was still moist but not watery or oozing with the juices.
